Tennessee Titans: Atlanta Falcons to Send Julio Jones to Nashville

Julio Jones finally gets his wish of being traded away from the Atlanta Falcons. Jones will be traded to the Tennessee Titans and so will a sixth-round pick in 2023 for a 2022 second-round pick and a 2023 fourth-round pick.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Tennessee Titans will take on his salary of $15.3 million and the rest of his contract. The Atlanta Falcons will also have $7.75 million in dead money this season.

Pumped Up in Tennessee

This trade makes Julio Jones and the Tennessee Titans potential Super Bowl candidates in the AFC. Julio Jones, A.J. Brown, and Derrick Henry on the same offense is going to be really scary for Tennessee.

Ryan Tannehill is the current quarterback of the Tennessee Titans. He is going to be happy to throwing the football to Julio Jones deep on play action or throwing jump balls to him in the red zone.

Having Julio Jones on the roster means that other teams defenses can not double him and A.J. Brown. Running the football will also be scary for this football team. Derrick Henry is the best running back in the NFL and they also have one of the best offensive lines led by Taylor Lewan, who will return from injury this season.

Julio Jones will be happy that he is finally playing for a Super Bowl contender. The Kansas City Chiefs, the Buffalo Bills, and the Cleveland Browns need to be put on alert and so do the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

They are in the NFC South and speaking of the NFC South, they will no longer have to worry about Julio Jones on the Atlanta Falcons.

Arthur Smith is the new head coach of Atlanta. He was the offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans last season.

He is helping out his former boss, Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel. Him and Julio Jones will be able to get along really well.

Julio Jones is the heartbeat of the Tennessee Titans wide receiver group now. He is going to help out this football team big time.

So Long, Mr. Falcon

Jones will be missed by the Atlanta Falcons fanbase. In nine games played last season, he caught 51 passes for 771 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Julio Jones in his career for them played in 135 games. He caught 848 passes for 12,896 yards receiving and 60 touchdowns.

In eight career playoff games, he has caught 61 passes for 834 yards receiving and six touchdowns. Julio Jones hopes to be playing a lot of playoff games for the Tennessee Titans down the road here as well and he is 32 years old.

Julio Jones will also provide solid run blocking to this offense. They are a run first offense and it also gets set up through play action. The new offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans this season is Todd Downing. He was the tight ends coach last season for the Tennessee Titans.
