Jacksonville Jaguars: Top Three Needs in the 2021 NFL Draft

The Jacksonville Jaguars are coming off a 1-15 record. That means they get the first overall pick with the worst record in the 2020-21 NFL season. They also have a new head coach in Urban Meyer. This will be his first opportunity as an NFL head coach. Many want to know how long he will last. In college, he left the University of Florida because of health concerns but shortly after that he took the job with the Ohio State Buckeyes.

What he will also learn is that when a team goes on a losing streak, he will get the blame for it. The Jaguars are playing in a completive division with the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts. The other team the Houston Texans are a nightmare. This is a team that can only go up. This draft could help set that up for a brighter future.

Round One First Pick

We all know who that pick is going to be. The Jacksonville Jaguars need a quarterback. The pick is going to be Trevor Lawrence out of the Clemson University. His time with Tigers was great. Lawrence threw for just over 10,000 yards with 90 touchdowns and only 17 interceptions. He might be a generational quarterback. This is the first piece that the Jaguars need to get out of the basement that they are currently in. Urban Meyer has been known to mold quarterbacks and Lawrence could be the next one. This pick will make or break the draft for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Round One Pick 25

This pick is via the Los Angeles Rams. From a trade for Jalen Ramsey. This pick I can see the Jacksonville Jaguars selecting an offensive lineman. What do you need to protect franchise tender at left tackle? Now they have a few but depth will never hurt. The Jaguars need to draft someone to compete with him or take his job after this year. The pick might be Teven Jenkins the offensive lineman out of Oklahoma State. He is athletic and has great hands. With those hands, he can push away defensive tackles.

Round Two Pick 33

This is where I believe the Jacksonville Jaguars pick defensively. I think the pick will be either Christian Barmore or Trevon Moehrig. Barmore is a defensive tackle at the University of Alabama. Moehrig is a safety out of TCU. I think it will be Barmore. The Alabama Crimson Tide has been a dominant program for the last decade. He can lineup at the nose or defensive tackle which is great. Barmore can also fit well as a five-technique defensive end. This is a player that could make a serious impact right away. This would be another big piece that could get the Jaguars moving in the right direction.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are looking to be better in the 2021-22 season than last year where they only won one game. With a new head coach and some free-agent acquisitions and good draft picks this should be no problem. The needs for them vary and hopefully, Meyer and company can get them filled before the start of the season. No doubt they are taking a quarterback with the first pick whether that is Trevor Lawrence or someone else. Let hope that the Jaguars will have a better season this year and moving forward.
