NBA Championship Odds For 2021 Provided by FanDuel Sportsbook
The NBA playoffs will begin in about a month. The Los Angeles Lakers are the defending NBA Champions from the 2019-2020 season. The last team to repeat as NBA Champions was the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 Golden State Warriors.
It will be interesting to see if we see a different winner for the third straight season. The last time we have seen a different winner for at least three seasons was four consecutive seasons when the Miami Heat (2012-2013), the San Antonio Spurs (2013-2014), the Golden State Warriors (2015-2016), and the Cleveland Cavaliers (2016-2017).
The NBA playoffs may not be as exciting as some other postseasons, but some people believe it is fun to watch despite seeing the same players making deep postseason runs every single season. James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Lebron James usually makes deep postseason runs because the NBA is a super star league after all.
The revenue is generated by players. So, what are the FanDuel Sportsbook odds for the 2021 NBA Title?
Brooklyn Nets +230
The Brooklyn Nets are the favorites simply because of the big three in Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving. The problem is, not all of them have played togehter a bunch so far this season. One night, it is Harden carrying the load and the next night Durant is carrying the load.
James Harden is the heartbeat of this Brooklyn Nets basketball team. He has been super happy since being traded from the Houston Rockets.
Head coach Steve Nash is in his first season with the basketball team. Mike D’Antoni is one of his assistant coaches. The issue for the Brooklyn Nets down the line will be team defense. It is one of the worst defenses in the NBA especially in the interior.
Can they stop Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers and Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks in order to get to the NBA Finals, or will they falter? The Brooklyn Nets not winning the NBA Finals this season would be an ultimate failure.
Los Angeles Lakers +350
The biggest question for the Los Angeles Lakers will be can Anthony Davis and Lebron James be healthy in time for the NBA Playoffs? Los Angeles is an extremely risky bet at this point in time because of their unknown health.
Without those two, they may not get past the Denver Nuggets in the first-round of the NBA Playoffs. That would be the #5 vs #4 match up in the west with the Lakers being the fifth seed and the Nuggets being the fourth seed.
Head coach Frank Vogel has implemented a tremendous defensive system even with these two players out. Vogel switches it up from man-to-man to a zone defense every time he gets the chance to.
Dennis Schroder and Andre Drummond will be two pivotal key role players for the Los Angeles Lakers in the long run. The other players like Alex Caruso, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell, Marc Gasol, Wesley Matthews, Talen Horton-Tucker, Kyle Kuzma, and Markieff Morris can’t be trusted on a day-to-day basis.
Los Angeles Clippers +600
The Los Angeles Clippers are the third favorites to win the NBA Title, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Los Angeles is another risky bet. Paul George is nick named as “Pandemic P” for a reason. He does load management during the regular season just like Kawhi Leonard.
Rajon Rondo is the leader of this basketball team. Ty Lue is the head coach. Terrance Mann, Reggie Jackson, Serge Ibaka, Patrick Beverley, Nicolas Batum, Ivica Zubac, and Marcus Morris Sr. are the other role players on this roster for the Los Angeles Clippers.
Los Angeles will have fits potentially with Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, and the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round. It would be a #6 vs #3 match up. However, I think the Los Angeles Clippers would lose in the second-round to the second seeded Phoenix Suns.
If I had to bet on this, I would choose the Brooklyn Nets first. However, I would choose teams like the Philadelphia 76ers, the Utah Jazz, and the Phoenix Suns before I would bet on the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers also.
