NBA Draft: Evan Mobley to Houston Rockets in 2021?
Evan Mobley is another freshman that is projected to be a top three pick in the upcoming 2021 NBA Draft. He is a center/power forward who is projected to be the second overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Mobley will be drafted after Cade Cunningham of Oklahoma State and before Jalen Suggs of Gonzaga.
Evan Mobley led USC to the Elite 8 and they also lost to the Gonzaga Bulldogs. The Trojans were better in the tournament than people they thought they were going to be because of Mobley. He is going to be a potential double-double machine in the NBA.
Mobley to Rockets?
Mobley is projected to get drafted by the Houston Rockets with the second overall pick. A front court of him alongside with Christian Wood would be intriguing. I think Houston may go with a guard because players like John Wall and Eric Gordon are older, but Evan Mobley would be the second best player available on the board.
That is the route that the Houston Rockets may want to go with under head coach Stephen Silas and general manager Rafael Stone. Houston (13-37 record) has the second worst record in the NBA so far this season. Evan Mobley would provide an impact on both ends of the floor.
He would be another big man going early in the NBA Draft. Center James Wiseman of the Golden State Warriors was selected second overall last season out of the University of Memphis.
Evan Mobley was the heartbeat of the USC Trojans this past season. He will most likely declare for the NBA Draft as another one-and-done prodigy.
Mobley played in 33 games last season with the USC Trojans. He averaged 16.4 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 2.4 APG, 2.9 BPG, and 0.8 SPG. Evan Mobley could also be a potential defensive player of the year candidate in the NBA down the line here as well.
He will be a valuable rim protector for any team he gets drafted by. Evan Mobley can play from the inside and also the outside. He has a decent stroke from the outside and his post game is effective on the inside.
Evan Mobley is going to be another young fun prospect to keep an eye in the upcoming 2021 NBA Draft.
If Not Houston, Then Where?
If he isn’t drafted by the Houston Rockets, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Washington Wizards, the Orlando Magic, or the Detroit Pistons will be his most likely destinations depending how the ping pong balls fall.
Mobley isn’t going to be the kind of prospect that Cade Cunningham will be, but he is going to be an effective player in the NBA. Evan Mobley could be like a Andre Drummond type of player down the road. Mobley will always be relied on every single night and could maybe be like Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets moving forward.
Where are the most likely destinations for Evan Mobley next season and will he be a top three pick in the upcoming 2021 NBA Draft or no? Leave a comment below.
