NBA Draft: Which Team Will Select Cade Cunningham?
Cade Cunningham is most likely going to be the slam dunk number one pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. He is a point guard/shooting guard. Cunningham is also one of the best combo guards coming out of college in a very long time, but he is a point guard first.
He is a pass first player and shooting seems secondary to him, but Cunningham is a natural born scorer also. He was one of the reasons why the Oklahoma State Cowboys were the number four seed in the NCAA Tournament. They had a legitimate chance to win it all because of Cade Cunningham.
Oklahoma State unfortunately lost in the second-round of the NCAA Tournament to the Oregon State Beavers. The Cowboys were a fourth seed and the Beavers were a 12th seed. Oregon State just got hot at the right time by winning the PAC12 Title and Oklahoma State lost to the Texas Longhorns in the BIG12 Title game.
Cade Cunningham in 27 games this past season with the Oklahoma State Cowboys, he averaged 20.1 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 3.5 APG, 0.8 BPG, and 1.6 SPG. Cunningham doesn’t have many weaknesses to his game.
Strong Core for Wolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves (13-38 record) would own the number one pick in the 2021 NBA Draft if the season ended today. This of course comes without a lottery for now. Minnesota also owned the number one pick last year and selected shooting guard Anthony Edwards from Georgia.
A back court of Cade Cunningham and Anthony Edwards would be very good down the line for Minnesota. They would also have to figure out what to do with the surrounding roster, including D’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns.
Cunningham would be the heartbeat of the Minnesota Timberwolves. He has the potential to be one of the best players in the NBA here as well.
Cade Cunningham brought relevancy to the Oklahoma State Cowboys this past season. He will be missed in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The reason why is because Cunningham already declared for the 2021 NBA Draft which isn’t a surprise at all.
A potential backcourt of Cade Cunningham and Anthony Edwards could be like what Steph Curry and Klay Thompson was in the past with the Golden State Warriors. It could also be like what Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum currently is with the Portland Trail Blazers.
If Cunningham is not drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves, it will be interesting to see where else he lands. Some of the other teams he could be drafted by is the Washington Wizards, the Orlando Magic, the Detroit Pistons, or the Houston Rockets.
Cade Cunningham is a potential franchise changer. He would also be a player that would be box office. People would line up and buy tickets in order to watch this potential superstar play. Cade Cunningham is going to win MVP down the line here as well.
