Carolina Panthers: Justin Fields Could Be Drafted by Carolina
Justin Fields is one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft. He was a two-year starter at Ohio State. Fields was also a one-year starter at Georgia before transferring. He is also one of the reasons why the BIG10 conference had college football this season. One of the strong qualities about him is his leadership.
Fields was supposed to be the number two overall quarterback in this 2021 NFL Draft, but Zach Wilson of BYU and Trey Lance of North Dakota State maybe drafted ahead of him. Mac Jones of Alabama will most likely not be drafted ahead of Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence of Clemson is expected to be selected number one overall.
Justin Fields would benefit by sitting for at least a half a season to a full season before being a starting quarterback full time in the NFL. He could be one of the quarterbacks that slips in the 2021 NFL Draft. However, it is very possible four of five quarterbacks be taken within the first five to ten picks.
Fields is a very athletic quarterback who has some very raw upside. He can run like the wind and be very successful with run-pass option. Is it possible that Justin Fields lands with the Carolina Panthers with the eighth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft but why?
Carolina has been trying to actively shop Teddy Bridgewater
The Carolina Panthers have been trying to actively shop quarterback Teddy Bridgewater this offseason. Carolina wants to move on from him. The Panthers tried trading for Matthew Stafford, Jared Goff, and Deshaun Watson. However, the Panthers maybe stuck at drafting quarterback Justin Fields with the eighth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Carolina would potentially excel in the long run with Justin Fields. Joe Brady is the current offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers. Brady is one of the most underrated offensive minds in the NFL. Fields would develop into a solid quarterback quickly under him.
Matt Rhule is the current head coach. Owner David Tepper isn’t afraid of swinging for the fences. Taking a chance on Justin Fields would be just that.
His Potential Upside
Justin Fields has a ton of upside in this NFL Draft in 2021. However, not all of the quarterbacks are going to pan out. Their are always some busts along the way and Justin Fields could be one of them, but he feels like he is the best quarterback in this draft class.
Fields played in eight games last season with the Ohio State Buckeyes. He completed 158-of-225 passes (70.2 completion percentage) for 2,100 passing yards 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. Justin Fields also rushed for 383 yards on 81 carries and five touchdowns.
He would be the heartbeat of the Carolina Panthers if he was drafted by them. Fields would be the best quarterback they have had since Cam Newton.
Justin Fields would have Christian McCaffrey in the backfield to work with. D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson are the top two wide receivers on the roster. They are not deep at tight end. Dan Arnold is the top tight end on the roster here.
The Carolina Panthers would be happy if they drafted Justin Fields eighth overall. Fields would make players around him better and also the team better.
The NFC South is a crazy division. Other than Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons may not be good once again next season.
However, the Carolina Panthers may improve from losing seven one possession games next season if they draft quarterback Justin Fields.
Why do you think the Carolina Panthers should draft quarterback Justin Fields from Ohio State with the eighth overall pick? Leave a comment below.
