Jacksonville Jaguars: Is Trevor Lawrence the Potential Draft Pick?

Trevor Lawrence is the most prized quarterback prospect in an NFL Draft since Andrew Luck was back in 2012. Lawrence has started for Clemson the past three seasons at the quarterback position. He has all of the natural tools to be an elite franchise quarterback.

The Jacksonville Jaguars currently own the number one overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. They have been on the clock since the end of the regular season. New head coach Urban Meyer loves Trevor Lawrence. He coached against or at least has tried to recruit him.

Meyer knows a lot about the players heading into the 2021 NFL Draft because he tried recruiting a lot of these players. Urban Meyer and the Jacksonville Jaguars are most likely going to take Trevor Lawrence with the number one overall pick but why would this be the case?

Leadership

With every single quarterback, they need to have a leadership quality on and off the field. Trevor Lawrence represents himself well with that. He doesn’t have a bad thing about him. Lawrence could be one of the players that potentially change the culture and the landscape of the Jacksonville Jaguars entirely.

Trevor Lawrence will be the heartbeat of the Jacksonville Jaguars. He will be one of the reasons why top free agents could go to Jacksonville in the immediate future.

Lawrence in 10 games last season, he completed 231-of-334 passes (69.4 completion percentage) for 3,153 passing yards 24 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Trevor Lawrence also rushed for 203 yards on 68 carries and eight touchdowns. He also caught a pass for eight yards receiving.

Lawrence may be able to run some run-pass options at the NFL level. He will be able to read NFL defenses just fine like at the collegiate level.

Urban Meyer Didn’t Attend Zach Wilson’s Pro Day

This is the biggest hint into why the Jacksonville Jaguars will draft quarterback Trevor Lawrence number one overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Zach Wilson of BYU is one of the top quarterback prospects on the board. When Urban Meyer doesn’t even attend his pro day, this means he is completely sold on Trevor Lawrence. Wilson is just an afterthought for Urban Meyer at this time.

Zach Wilson will probably be a very good NFL quarterback, but Jacksonville feels like Lawrence is more of a can’t miss prospect. He did a lot of things really well in college.

The people who think that Trevor Lawrence isn’t going to be better than Zach Wilson are just experiencing recency bias. Lawrence will be the number one overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. If he wasn’t, then it would be one of the biggest NFL Draft shocks ever here.

This is why a lot of people tune into the NFL Draft and watch it on TV. Trevor Lawrence is going to be the starter in Week 1 next season for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Gardner Minshew II is not the answer long term and is a backup quarterback at best here.
