NFL: Top Five Game 17 Matchups in 2021

The NFL is adding a game 17 to this upcoming season. Every team will play three pre-season games and 17 regular-season games so they will still be playing 20 total games. It will be exciting to see an extra week of football. Many have said that four pre-season games were too many so they have cut one out. I will not be surprised if in the future they cut it back to two and have 18 regular-season games. The 2021 NFL schedule has not come out yet I am going to give you my five dream games. Here are my five best game 17 matchups for the 2021-22 season.

Seattle Seahawks vs Kansas City Chiefs

These were the two conference-winning teams. The way that the Seattle Seahawks played early on, many had them going to the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, the Seahawks lost to the Los Angeles Rams. Russell Wilson has been a solid and good quarterback for a long time. He has asked the team to help get him some offensive line help so he does not get sacked so much. The Kansas City Chiefs were in back-to-back Super Bowls. Patrick Mahomes did everything could to get the Chiefs back-to-back Super Bowl wins. What I like about this matchup is that it features two of the better quarterbacks in the NFL.

Buffalo Bills vs Washington Football Team

These two teams have a history. They played each other in the past during a Super Bowl. The Bills are a young team on the rise. On the flip side so is the Washington Football Team. Washington is building their team on the defensive end. Chase Young was the Defensive Rookie of the Year. I am sure he would love to sack Josh Allen. The Bills would spread out Washington’s secondary. This would be a matchup that NFL fans would want to see.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Indianapolis Colts

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the defending Super Bowl champs. They have one of the better rushing defenses in the NFL. Both Super Bowl championships have been won mainly by the defense that Tampa Bay had. The Colts have one of the best running games in the league. Indianapolis has Marlon Mack and Jonathan Taylor. Both are good backs that would be a great matchup for the Buccaneers’ run defense. The Colts also have a history with Tom Brady. This would be a good game that we have seen in the past on Monday night which the Colts came back and won.

San Francisco 49ers vs Denver Broncos

Like the Packers and Steelers, these two teams have played against each other in the Super Bowl. These are both teams that will have to rebound this season. Their records were nearly similar with the 49ers winning six games and the Broncos winning five. Also, the general manager of San Francisco, John Lynch played for the Broncos in his Hall of Fame career. This would be an exciting game with two younger teams. I would like to see how both of the respective offenses would do against the respective defenses. This would be a fun game during the season.

Green Bay Packers vs Pittsburgh Steelers

These two teams have some history playing each other in the Super Bowl. In that game, the Green Bay Packers won. There are some decisions that the Steelers have to make with Ben Roethlisberger. He has digressed and will be making way too much money this upcoming year. The Steelers will have to make some changes because after going after 11-0 they lost all of but one of their remaining games. The Green Bay Packers were once again in the NFC Championship Game for the second year in a row but lost again. This game would be fun to watch because of the Steelers’ defense against the Packers’ offense.

At the end, where will have to see where the NFL places these games. There are many that I did not mention that could happen. I like all five of these games it would be great to see where the teams are at when they meet. These games could come down to both or one of these teams making the postseason. It might also mean that these throw-away games where one team may just rest their starters and get ready for the postseason. Let’s see what happens.
