Montreal Canadiens: Habs Are on a Roll to Start 2021 NHL Season

The Montreal Canadiens are off to a hot start on the 2021 regular season. Montreal is one of the most balanced teams in the entire NHL. The Canadiens dominated the Vancouver Canucks 6-1 on Monday night and this is some of the dominance they have displayed so far this season.

Montreal is currently in second place in the all Canadian Division. Their record so far this season is 6-1-2 with 14 points. The Montreal Canadiens are just one point back of the Toronto Maple Leafs (7-2-1 record with 15 points) for the first spot in the division.

One of the reasons why they are so good this season is because of the postseason experience they had in the Toronto bubble. They upset the Pittsburgh Penguins in four games in the Stanley Cup Qualifiers. Montreal almost upset the Philadelphia Flyers in the next round (first-round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs) in six games.

Head coach Claude Julien deserves a ton of credit. This maybe the best hockey team he has coached since either the 2010-2011 Boston Bruins (Stanley Cup Champions) or the 2013-2014 Boston Bruins (Presidents’ Trophy Winners).

Marc Bergevin is the current general manager of the Montreal Canadiens. He made a couple of key offseason moves. Bergevin was able to acquire Josh Anderson in a trade from the Columbus Blue Jackets. He also signed Tyler Toffoli and Corey Perry in free agency.

Montreal has some young studs on the roster like Nick Suzuki, Arturri Lehkonen, and Jesperi Kotkaniemi.

Jeff Petry and Shea Weber is one of the best defensive pairings in the entire NHL.

Carey Price is one of the best goalies in the NHL. He is the heartbeat of the Montreal Canadiens.

Price will be a first ballot hall of famer one day in the NHL. He has yet to win a Stanley Cup in his illustrious career. The last time the Montreal Canadiens reached the conference finals was in 2014 where they lost to the New York Rangers in six games.

The last time Montreal won the Stanley Cup was in 1993 against the Los Angeles Kings in five games. This was also the last time where a Canadian team won the Stanley Cup Title. The Canadiens have a really good hockey team this season and they haven’t looked this sharp in a few years.

Montreal has one of the most passionate fanbases in the entire sport. The NHL is so much better when the Canadiens are a really good hockey team. If they were to play the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season, it would be one of the most dramatic series we have seen in a very long time also.

The Montreal Canadiens (6-1-2 record with 14 points) next game will be on Tuesday night against the Vancouver Canucks (6-6-0 record with 12 points) once again also.
