Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Three Game Studs vs New Orleans Saints

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, after two tries early in the season, defeated the New Orleans Saints. This was the third time this season that the two teams met. This win was the most important because it eliminated the Saints from the playoffs. The first half ended in a 13-13 tie and the Saints had the more exciting plays. Which included a 56-yard passing play that put New Orleans in the lead at the time. The Buccaneers did something they had not done in the previous two games win the turnover battle. Tampa Bay forced four turnovers and the Saints had none. Tampa Bay’s defense also made the plays that needed to other than the turnovers. They made Drew Brees frustrated. The Buccaneers also ran the ball very well with a combination of Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones. This was a big win for Tampa Bay 30-20.

Tom Brady

This was not the best of games that Tom Brady had for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, he, in the end, did what he always does. Brady went 18/33 for 199 yards and two touchdowns. I think the most important play he made was late in the game to seal it. Brady scored a two-yard touchdown to put the Buccaneers up by 10. When the season started this is why Brady wanted to come to Tampa. There were times that he looked frustrated himself. In the end, he was a major factor in why they will be heading to Green Bay to play the Packers in the NFC Championship game.

Leonard Fournette

There was no 100-yard rusher in this game. One of the keys that I mentioned in my three keys was that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers needed to run the ball. This was to control the game and make sure that Tom Brady did not throw the ball 50 or more times. Fournette was the workhorse he had 17 carries for 63 yards. He had tough runs when they needed them. Fournette like Brady came to Tampa as a free agent and help them get to the NFC Championship game. He will be a big part of the offense next week against the Green Bay Packers.

Devin White

He picked a great game to return. White was on the Covid-19 list last week when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers played the Washington Football Team. White made key tackles and talked trash throughout the game. He had two turnovers one fumble recovery and one interception. The fumble recovery came after Antoine Winfield Jr. punched the ball out of the hands of Jared Cook. The interception came late in the game. The defense as a whole played well that is why they won.

This was a big win for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This is the first time they are headed to the NFC Championship game since they won the Super Bowl in the 2002-03 season. This was the first time they beat the New Orleans Saints. The Buccaneers played a solid game outside of a few special team blunders on kick and punt returns. The defense forced four turnovers and keep Drew Brees off his game. The offense, led by Tom Brady, did enough to get a matchup with another great quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. I am excited about the game against the Packers because these two teams have met earlier in the season.
