Los Angeles Rams: Three Keys to Grating the Green Bay Packers
The Los Angeles Rams are in a position that they were just in two years ago. They are in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs. This time they are facing the Green Bay Packers. However, they must go through Lambeau Field to get it done. That task is easier said than done. Green Bay was undefeated at home during the regular season. That will make it tough on the Rams. Nonetheless, the old saying goes, “Any Given Sunday!” Saying that, let us look at some keys to follow for a Los Angeles win.
Some are saying that this could be the last game that Jared Goff plays in a Rams uniform. That is of course if they lose. Whatever happens in the offseason, happened. On Saturday, the Los Angeles Rams need Goff to play unbelievably well. He must take care of the football. He cannot make careless throws and expect to get away with it. The Packers’ defense is one of the best at taking the ball away. They finished 7th on the season with a +7 turnover differential. Limiting the turnovers will be key for Jared Goff and his successes on Saturday.
The Los Angeles Rams defense was the number one defense in all of football. They only allowed an average of 280 yards per game. That defense is going to be key in stopping Aaron Rodgers and the high-powered Packers offense. The Packers were the 5th best offense in the regular season. However, they were the number one scoring offense in the league (509 pts). It is going to be up to that Rams defense to keep them in this game. Make Rodgers and company have long drives. If they can do that, the Packer may eventually make a mistake.
Cam Akers and the running game of the Los Angeles Rams are going to have to be on point again this week. Last week against the Seattle Seahawks, Akers ran all over the field. He totaled 131 yards on the ground for the Rams. Akers was also effective through the air with 45 yards receiving.
It is going to be up to Sean McVay and his offensive staff to keep this offense on the field. They must control the clock and make this a low scoring game for the Rams to come out on top and play for a chance at the Super Bowl.
