Baltimore Ravens: Three Keys to Corralling the Buffalo Bills

The Baltimore Ravens are the divisional round of the playoffs again. This time they took the extra week to get there. Last week, in Super WIld Card Weekend, the Ravens took down the Tennessee Titans. They did it with solid defense and a running game. Something they will need this week as they travel to Orchard Park, New York and face the Buffalo Bills. What are some keys for the Ravens to be successful on Saturday? Here are some things to watch.

Lamar Jackson

Jacskon won his first playoff game last week. He was extremely motivated by the talk that he cannot win in the playoffs. He will need that same motivation again this week against the Bills. Buffalo’s defense is very talented. They get after the QB with a very solid pass rush.

The weather could be a factor as well. This could make it difficult to get going. Especially for a mobile QB. Keep an eye out at NFLWeather.com for the latest on this.

J.K. Dobbins

If the weather is a factor, as we mention above, the running game could be extremely important. Dobbins has become the bell cow back for the Baltimore Ravens offense. He will have an added load in Buffalo this week. The Bills finished 17th against the run in the regular season. That should play well with what The Ravens want to do on the weekend. Baltimore is going to want to keep the Bills offense off the field. Having a solid running game and controlling the clock is going to be a great way for the Ravens to leave New York with a win.

Defense

The defense of the Baltimore Ravens is very stingy. They finished as the 7th overall ranked defense in the regular season. They are going to need every bit of that defense against Stefon Diggs, Devin Singletary, John Brown, and Josh Allen. The Bills offense is very high-powered. For Baltimore to stay in the game, their defense is going to have to keep it low scoring. I do not see them being able to win in a shootout.

This will be a tough task for the Baltimore Ravens. Unless they can successfully run the ball, it will be a long day. The more sustained drives they are able to have, the better off the Ravens will be. If they cannot sustain drives, the Bills’ offense is going to tire out the Ravens’ defense. Therefore, making this game the last of the season.

To see what happens, tune into the AFC Divisional Playoff Game. Kickoff is Saturday at 8:15pm Est.
