Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Peeking Ahead vs Atlanta Falcons
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers come into Week 17 feeling really good. For the first time in 13 years, they are heading to the postseason. The Detroit Lions were the latest victim and the Bucs did something that they do not normally do that is getting off to a fast start. They led the Lions 34-0 at halftime. The Bucs now turn their attention to the Atlanta Falcons who they defeated just two short weeks ago. Tampa Bay could have 11 wins in 2020 something that has not been done in a long time. Also, one Mike Evans sits just 40 yards away from the seventh straight season of 1,000 yards. The Falcons could also play spoiler because if they win it could hurt Tampa Bay. I believe that the Bucs will be ready to put a cap on their season but a winning cap.
The Falcons are 4-11 coming into this game. Like many teams with similar or worse records, they had too many things go wrong. Since they made the change at head coach they won more games. Sometimes change is good for the team. Just two weeks ago they only lost by four points to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Falcons were up 17-0 at the half but were outscored 31-10 in the second half. The one aspect that has hampered the Falcons is no run game. They picked up Todd Gurley in the offseason but with his injuries from the past it has been hard for him to be the back he once was. That means they lean on Matt Ryan and when a defense knows your one-dimensional it is easier to beat them. Let’s see what the Flacons game plan is this Sunday.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
One of the first things that were thought about when Tom Brady signed was making it to the postseason. That became a reality and now let see how the Bucs handle the final game. For example, if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers get off to a fast start similar to the one last week against the Detroit Lions do they bench the starters? Last week Brady was out for the entire second half. Like I mentioned before Mike Evans is just 40 yards away from a 1,000-yard season. Does Evans sit out if he gets the 40 yards early? Tampa Bay does get back Ronald Jones this week who was out with Covid issues last week. I think the Buccaneers want to win and finish the season strong as they head into the playoffs.
Kickoff is set for 1 PM EST. It will be at Raymond James Stadium in front of a small crowd because of the coronavirus. This is a game that means much more to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers than the Atlanta Falcons. If the Bucs win they keep the 5th seed in the playoffs and will play the winner of the NFC East. That will be the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Football Team, or New York Giants. Depending on how the game starts will depend on how Tampa Bay plays the game. If it is similar to the one earlier the starters will play the entire game but if it goes like last week then the Buccaneers will coast to an 11th win.
