Cleveland Cavaliers: Andre Drummond Changing the Culture

The Cleveland Cavaliers were 3-0 entering Tuesday night’s game at home against the New York Knicks. Andre Drummond has been one of the reasons why Cleveland has gotten off to a fast start in the NBA this season, but the Cavaliers faltered against New York at home 95-86.

Their shots couldn’t fall, but Andre Drummond was always there to make things easier and smoother. He scored 18 points in the game. Drummond also shot 53.8 percent from the field. He also grabbed 17 rebounds, recorded two assists, blocked six shots, and recorded three steals.

Andre Drummond was acquired in a trade last season near the trade deadline from the Detroit Pistons. I can’t figure out why Detroit decided to trade him away for basically nothing. He was one of the reasons why the Cleveland Cavaliers played much better before the coronavirus halted the 2019-2020 regular season.

Drummond is the heartbeat of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is still in the prime of his NBA career.

Andre Drummond will be a free agent after this season and General Manager Koby Altman needs to find a way to keep him around the younger players in the locker room.

Kevin Love isn’t always around because he is always injured and will miss the next three to four weeks with a calf injury.

Drummond is only 27 years old. In just four games so far this season, he is averaging 19.8 PPG, 15.3 RPG, 3.5 APG, 2.8 BPG, and 2.8 SPG.

Andre Drummond is also well beloved by Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff, who is trying to change the culture as well here in Cleveland.

They have three extremely young players on the roster in Collin Sexton (21 years old), Darius Garland (20 years old), and Isaac Okoro (19 years old). The Cleveland Cavaliers are banking on these players to be the building blocks and the future of Cleveland.

Okoro is out to due to injury.

Sexton scored 20 points. He shot 35.3 percent from the field. Collin Sexton also grabbed two rebounds, recorded four assists, and recorded one steal.

Garland scored 17 points. He shot 33.3 percent from the field. Darius Garland also grabbed five rebounds, recorded six assists, and recorded two steals.

Some of the other young players they have on the roster are Cedi Osman, Kevin Porter Jr., Thon Maker, and Dylan Windler.

Andre Drummond is easily a top five center in the NBA. He maybe one of the reasons why the Cleveland Cavaliers get back to the playoffs this season and they have not been since going to the NBA Finals in 2018 with LeBron James and they got swept to the Golden State Warriors.

The New York Knicks (2-2) next game will be on the road against the Indiana Pacers (3-1) on Saturday January 2nd.

The Cleveland Cavaliers (3-1) next game will be on the road against the Atlanta Hawks (3-0) on Saturday January 2nd.
