Tampa Bay Buccaneers: A Glance Inside the Detroit Lions Contest

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are making a run at a playoff appearance. They have a 9-5 record and are doing much better than last year. This season is now just two weeks away from finishing up. This Bucs team has had its ups and downs. There is a history for Tom Brady and the Atlanta Falcons. Brady when he played for the New England Patriots they played against the Falcons in Super Bowl LI. Atlanta was up 28-3 in the third quarter and pretty much had it all wrapped up. Brady and New England rallied back and won the game in overtime 34-28. This past week once again the Falcons up 17-0 at halftime. Brady once again rallied with the Buccaneers winning 31-27. Tampa Bay is now on a two-game winning streak with two games left. The first one is this upcoming Saturday against the Detroit Lions.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be playing their final road game of 2020. The opponent is the Detroit Lions. This is a game that the Bucs need to get off to a faster start. This has been one issue that they had all season. No matter if they get the ball first or second. The offense needs to put up some points and the defense needs to keep their opponents all off the scoreboard. I think this game and the one remaining home game against the Atlanta Falcons should be a tune-up to fix the issue. When Brady and the offense do not have sacks or turnovers they put up stats and win games. The defense also will need to better on keeping Matthew Stafford off balance. If they can do that it will lead to their 10th win in 2020.

Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions have had a season that has been and up and down. They fired Matt Patricia after not the best of starts. The next two games are both at home the first one will be against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This will be a tough test for the Lions. Detroit is coming off a loss versus the Tennessee Titans. The loss was by 21 points. The Lions have lost the last two games their last win came against the Chicago Bears. They will have to try and keep an offense that was on queue last week. If Brady can do what he does the Lions will lose the game. Their record stands at 5-9 hopefully they do not lose both games. Stafford will be tested by the Buccaneers defense. We will see what adjustments they will make to try and beat Tampa Bay.

Additional Thoughts

Kickoff is set for Saturday at 1 pm EST. The setting is Ford Field. It will be the day after Christmas. These two teams at one time were in the same division. It was called the “Black and Blue” division. I am sure it will be cold in Michigan, but the Lions play on a dome. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will not have to worry about playing in the cold. Brady is used to it playing 20 years in New England. This is a big game for the Buccaneers as they try and stay with the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South. Let’s see how this game plays out.
