Washington Football Team: Five Ingredients for Seahawks Stew

The Washington Football Team is having a tremendous run at this point in the season. They have won four games in a row. Which in turn has put them in first place in the NFC East. This weekend they have another big matchup. The Seattle Seahawks are coming to town. This could be a preview of an NFC Wild Card Game. However, Washington is going into this game a little short-handed. Nonetheless, it is a winnable game for the burgundy and gold. In saying that, here are five keys to watch for when Washington takes on Seattle.

Dwayne Haskins

Washington will be without starting QB Alex Smith in this week 15 game. He is out with a calf strain. It is going to be up to Haskins to lead this team. The Washington offense has been completely different since Haskins was benched in week five. Now it is back in his hands. Has then benching woke up the young QB? Will he be able to take the reigns and lead this team to a critical week 15 win? It is impeccable that he plays well. If he does, Washington should see itself on the top side of the scoreboard.

Defense

With the offense missing some pieces, the defense of the Washington Football Team will need another big game. They have a tough task this week in corralling Seahawks WR, D.K. Metcalf. They will also have the pleasure of pressuring Russell Wilson. Washington’s defense is the gas that drives this team right now. Look for coordinator Jack Del Rio to devise a game plan that keeps the offense of the Seattle Seahawks guessing.

Quick Passes

The Seattle secondary is not very good. Their CBs are very suspect to quick hitters and big plays. It is said that OC, Scott Turner has devised a game plan for Haskins to be successful. These types of passes will have to be included for that to happen. Then they can take the shots downfield.

Turnovers

Washington will need to avoid the turnover bug in this game. There is nothing more devastating than giving a high-powered offense a short field to work with. If the offense of the Washington Football Team does not sustain drives, if they put the ball on the turf, or Haskins throws INTs Washington will be in for a long afternoon.

Dustin Hopkins

This game could come down to a critical FG by either kicker. Hopkins has been up and down on the season. He has missed some kicks that he should be expected to make. Hopkins has also made some kicks that no one expected him to make. He is going to need to be on his game. Washington is going to need to score on most of their drives for them to win this game. That will mean that Hopkins needs to be on point.

This game is very winnable for the Washington Football Team. Haskins does not need to be a hero. The kid needs to stay within the offense. Let his playmakers do the work. Keep drives alive and let his defense be fresh when they take the field. While it is not a crushing game if they lose, Washington will take a major step with a win.
