Green Bay Packers: Are They Best Bets to Win the NFC?
As the NFL Playoffs get closer and closer, we might be wondering which team will capture the NFC title in 2021. One team that seems like the best bet to win the conference crown is the Green Bay Packers.
With the Lambeau leapers currently on top of the NFC North and other teams having plenty of issues, the Pack might be the best bets to reach the Super Bowl.
Here are a few reasons why the Packers could win the NFC this season.
Help for Rodgers
We often hear about how the Green Bay Packers need to give Aaron Rodgers some help and it looks like he is getting exactly that this season.
Running back Aaron Jones has 823 rushing yards and seven touchdowns so far this season.
Davante Adams has over 1,100 receiving yards and 14 scores to his credit and tight end Robert Tonyan has a quiet nine touchdown receptions.
Even though Green Bay doesn’t go nuts in free agency they have utilized the players on their roster effectively.
Defense Plays Big
It’s been hard for opponents to score against the Packers’ defense during this season.
During the Packers’ three-game winning streak, their defense has held opponents to an average of 9 points in the first half.
Za’Darius Smith leads the Pack with 10.5 sacks and Rashan Gary has five.
It’s worth noting how the Green Bay Packers defense has grown over the last two seasons.
They are not a joke like they used to be and as long as it can keep playing at a high level, the Packers’ offense will be able to handle the rest.
Rest of the NFC
There are a few issues with other teams that just raise too many eyebrows.
The NFC East is obviously a mess with Washington and New York refusing to put a stranglehold on the division.
Sure the NFC South gives us New Orleans and Tampa Bay, but the Bucs look off and struggle to gain traction (especially against the Saints).
The Saints have been successful under Taysom Hill as he replaces the injured Drew Brees, but he will likely need to make huge throws with his arm in the playoffs, which might be too much to ask.
The NFC West gives us Seattle and Los Angeles, but the Seahawks have some issues on offense.
When you look at the Rams, can you trust Jared Goff and that offense?
It seems like there are no clear cut favorites to claim the NFC crown this season, but Green Bay might be the best of them all. With their defense and balanced offense helped by Aaron Jones, it makes sense for the Packers to be the favorite.
Of course, Aaron Rodgers brings the pain with his touchdown-tossing arm as well.
Right now Green Bay holds the No. 1 seed in the NFC with three weeks to play in the regular season.
Yes, the Green Bay Packers are a beatable team but they are probably the default favorite to capture the conference and make another run towards the Vince Lombardi Trophy this winter.
