Washington Football Team: Five Keys for Striking Gold in Week 14

The Washington Football Team is in the midst of a three-game winning streak. In week 14 they travel to Arizona to take on the San Francisco 49ers. This will be counted as a 49ers home game due to Covid restrictions in Santa Clara County. While Washington is one of the hottest teams in the league right, San Francisco will not be an easy out. This team has been hit with the injury bug. Nevertheless, they play their toughest week in and week out. What is it going to take for Washington to go home with a win? Here are some keys to victory.

Stop The Run

The 49ers are a run-first offense. Especially since they do not have their star Qb, Jimmy Garoppolo. Kyle Shanahan will look to feed Raheem Mostert and the RB squad. This will help him call his play-action and rollouts. Thus, Washington will have to be sound in their run defense. This is something that this team has done better during their winning streak. Look for this as a big key for a Washington win in week 14.

Offensive Line

The offensive line of the Washington Football Team has been playing better as of late. They will need to keep up that good play this week. Robert Saleh, the Defensive Coordinator of the 49ers, will look to pressure Alex Smith and the Washington offense. Offensive Coordinator, Scott Turner will need to have a solid quick-hitting game plan to counter the pressure of the 49ers. This will also aid the offensive line.

Pressure

Jack Del Rio should look to bring the house against the 49ers’ offense. Make Nick Mullens beat them. If Washington can stop the run and make the Niners one dimensional it only plays in their favor. The defensive line is comprised of some of the best pass rushers in the NFL. They know how to get after the QB. Couple that with the offensive line struggles of the 49ers and we should see a lot of sack dancing on Sunday.

Turnovers

Washington has done a decent job of avoiding the costly turnover during this run. That will have to continue on Sunday. There is nothing more helpful to a less superior team than giving them an opportunity. Make San Francisco have long fields to manage. The farther they have to drive the less likely it is they will be successful.

Fast Start

This rings true for the offense. The defense has been better over the past couple of weeks. However, Washington still has yet to score on their opening drive of a game in 2020. Let us change that this week. Come out and shove the ball down the throats of the 49ers. Make them play from behind. Give your talented defense an early lead so that they can pin their ears back and go get them. Washington has not had a game like that. They are due.

We are entering the final quarter of the season and the Washington Football Team is playing games that mean something. This has not happened in a while. Not only can they still win their division they are in the middle of the race for the final wild-card spot as well. December should most certainly be a fun month. As Michael Buffer would say, “Let’s Get Ready to RUUUMMMBBBLLLEEE”!
