Pittsburgh Steelers: Are They Super Bowl Frauds?

It was going to be sooner rather than later The Pittsburgh Steelers would lose a football game. Pittsburgh was upset at home on Monday afternoon against The Washington Football Team by a final score of 23-17.

The Steelers had a chance to win the game in the fourth quarter when the game was tied at 17 and went for it on fourth down, but Anthony McFarland dropped a pass.

Dustin Hopkins kicked the game-winning 45-yard field goal with a little bit over two minutes remaining in regulation. On the ensuing drive, Roethlisberger’s pass was batted down and picked off by Jon Bostic. Montez Sweat forced the deflection.

After the turnover, Hopkins kicked another 45-yard field goal with under a minute remaining. The Steelers couldn’t score on their final drive.

Too Many Flaws

Pittsburgh has so many flaws and this game proved they may not be a serious Super Bowl Contender let alone get to the AFC Championship Game.

This team has no running game and they miss James Conner.

Snell Jr. only rushed for five yards on eight carries.

Anthony McFarland rushed for 15 yards on four carries.

Offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner deserves a lot of blame for his play calling.

Ben Roethlisberger can not do everything for this offense. What I mean by that is that they are too reliant on him and would be doomed without him.

He completed 33-of-53 passes for 305 yards two touchdowns and one interception.

Roethlisberger is the heartbeat of the Pittsburgh Steelers. This team has been so much better this season without him, but this team is now far from perfect.

James Washington caught two passes for 80 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Diontae Johnson caught eight passes for 71 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Eric Ebron caught seven passes for 68 yards receiving. He also dropped a few passes in the game on Monday afternoon.

They also have Chase Claypool and JuJu Smith-Schuster on the offensive side of the ball at the wide receiver position.

Injuries on Defense

The defense is also banged up. They lost Bud Dupree and Devin Bush for the season.

Robert Spillane is also banged up, along with Joe Haden.

They avoided a potentially serious injury with Minkah Fitzpatrick as well on the defensive side of the ball.

At the moment, they hang onto the number one seed in the AFC, but the Kansas City Chiefs (11-1) are much better than them at the moment.

The Tennessee Titans (8-4) offensive juggernaut could definitely beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in a rematch.

Pittsburgh could also face a Miami Dolphins (8-4), a Las Vegas Raiders (7-5), an Indianapolis Colts (8-4), a Baltimore Ravens (6-5), or a Cleveland Browns (9-3) football squad in the first round of the playoffs if they drop to the number two seed in the AFC.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ last three out of four games are against teams over .500 and they could lose at least two more of them. Head coach Mike Tomlin needs to keep his guys ready and focused. He finally seems relieved that they lost a football game.

Pittsburgh will be Super Bowl frauds because their defense isn’t as healthy with T.J. Watt and Cameron Heyward leading the way and also the ineffectiveness to run the football. They also blew a 14-point lead in this football game as well here.
