Indianapolis Colts: Can They Hold Onto the AFC South?

The Indianapolis Colts were on the brink of losing two consecutive games to AFC South opponents. The Houston Texans had a chance late in the game to win it, but Deshaun Watson fumbled on a 2nd-and-goal play, and the Colts defense recovered. Because of it, Indianapolis won the game over Houston 26-20.

The Colts are back in first place in the AFC South at the moment due to the Tennessee Titans (8-4) losing to the Cleveland Browns (9-3) at home 41-35 on Sunday afternoon.

Indianapolis got a couple of key players back in this game. Running Back Jonathan Taylor and Defensive Lineman DeForest Buckner was back as well here. They both missed the game vs Tennessee last weekend due to being on the Coronavirus list.

Philip Rivers completed 27-of-35 passes for 285 yards and two touchdowns.

Jonathan Taylor rushed for 91 yards on 13 carries. He also caught three passes for 44 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Head Coach Frank Reich likes to use different running backs each and every single week as well here.

The running back group is the heartbeat and the heart and soul of the Indianapolis Colts. It is the strongest position on the offensive side of the ball, other than their offensive line.

T.Y. Hilton caught eight passes for 110 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Michael Pittman Jr. caught five passes for 46 yards receiving. He is starting to get better week in and week out.

Nyheim Hines rushed for 10 yards on six carries. He also caught three passes for 22 yards receiving.

Jordan Wilkins rushed for 12 yards on five carries.

This isn’t the greatest skill position group in the NFL, but the Indianapolis Colts play really hard and pay attention to detail.

This team is going to be tough to beat in the postseason as long as they make it. It is going to be interesting to see because they play in a lot of close games. Indianapolis isn’t an elite team, but they are much better than they were last season.

Head Coach Frank Reich and Defensive Coordinator Matt Eberflus deserve a lot of credit for having this football team. Their will be many more chances for them to win games this season.

In realty, they know they escaped with a win in this football game. It is better to be lucky than good in certain instances and in today’s game, it is was one of them.

Indianapolis was almost on upset alert in this game, but they avoided it big time. The Colts have a lot of cleaning up to do in order to get to the Super Bowl, but that isn’t their thought at the moment in this football season. It is all about getting better one day at a time.

This NFL season is going by very quickly. It will be interesting to see what happens moving forward with them this season as well here.

The Indianapolis Colts (8-4) next game will be on the road against the Las Vegas Raiders (7-5) next Sunday.

The Houston Texans (4-8) next game will be on the road against the Chicago Bears (5-7) next Sunday.
