Cleveland Browns: Baker Mayfield Finally Playing Good Football

The Cleveland Browns needed to change the narrative against good teams. Baker Mayfield had his best game of the season against a horrendous Tennessee Titans defense in a 41-35 win on the road.

Cleveland has one of the best records in the NFL and they are currently in the fifth spot in the AFC. Any other season, they would be in first place in the AFC North, but the Pittsburgh Steelers (11-0) are undefeated.

Baker Mayfield torched the Titans defense in the first half. He completed 25-of-33 passes for 334 yards and four touchdowns. Mayfield also rushed for four yards on two carries.

He is the heartbeat of the Cleveland Browns. Thus, Baker Mayfield needs to continue to play well.

He also fumbled late in the game, but it didn’t matter too much. Baker Mayfield distributed the football in this game to three different wide receivers.

Rashard Higgins caught six passes for 95 yards receiving and a touchdown. He is becoming one of Baker Mayfield’s favorite target this season. Higgins has emerged ever since Odell Beckham Jr. got hurt and suffered a season ending injury.

Donovan Peoples-Jones caught two passes for 92 yards receiving and a touchdown. He has been emerging as one of the primary wide receivers on this roster as well.

Jarvis Landry caught eight passes for 62 yards receiving and a touchdown. He is always the top target on this Cleveland Browns offense in the receiving game.

The reason why Baker Mayfield was so successful in this game was because the Tennessee Titans was expecting a heavy dose of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt.

Chubb rushed for 80 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown. He also caught one pass for 26 yards receiving. Nick Chubb is one of the focal points in this Cleveland Browns offense.

Kareem Hunt rushed for 33 yards on 14 carries. He also caught three passes for 24 yards receiving. Hunt is a very good running back and complements Nick Chubb and Baker Mayfield very well as well here.

Kevin Stefanski deserves a ton of credit for fixing Baker Mayfield and his game this season.

He could very well be the Coach of the Year in the NFL. The Cleveland Browns have not been to the playoffs since the 2002 season.

Austin Hooper also caught two passes for 24 yards. Mayfield also threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Kendall Lamm in the second-quarter.

The Cleveland Browns had a 38-7 halftime lead, but did just enough to hang on for the big win. Baker Mayfield saved his job big time this season and potentially for the future as well at the moment.

They want to have Super Bowl aspirations, but it is going to be interesting to see how well he is going to play moving forward. Baker Mayfield definitely surprised the Tennessee Titans defense in this game and he burned them.

Tennessee has one of the worst defenses in the NFL this season. Cleveland’s defense is a lot better with Myles Garrett, who recorded a sack in this game.

Garrett returned for the first time in the last two weeks due to being on the Coronavirus list.

The Cleveland Browns (9-3) will look to continue rolling at home next Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens (6-5).

The Tennessee Titans (8-4) will look to bounce back next week on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-11) next Sunday.
