Philadelphia Eagles: Who Could Trade for Carson Wentz?

With the Philadelphia Eagles struggling on offense and Carson Wentz not having a successful 2020 season, it may be time for other teams to think about trading for the QB.

Wentz continues to turn the ball over and the offense looks lost.

I’m not ready to give up on Wentz because I think the Philly franchise has failed to build depth. Also, there seems to be a disconnect within the organization and Wentz has been in a tough spot.

Whether it’s seeing Nick Foles take the birds to a Super Bowl championship over New England or watching the Eagles draft Jalen Hurts in the second round, Carson Wentz has to feel slighted by Philly. Therefore, it may be time to wear a different uniform.

Let’s see which NFL teams should trade for Wentz.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts should have a lot of salary cap space to work with compared to most teams and they need a QB for the future.

Indy head coach Frank Reich is familiar with Wentz since both of them were around each other when Reich was the offensive coordinator in Philly.

The Colts have Philip Rivers and Jacoby Brissett as their top-2 signal-callers on the roster. But, both QBs will be free agents this offseason.

It makes too much sense for the Colts to go after Carson Wentz and since they will not have a top-10 pick in the 2021 draft the trade would make even more sense.

San Francisco 49ers

People keep saying it makes sense for the Niners to acquire Atlanta Falcons’ QB Matt Ryan because of the connection Ryan and current Niner head coach Kyle Shanahan had while in Atlanta.

But, wouldn’t it make more sense to make a trade for Wentz?

Wentz is the younger player and San Fran could have more years of team control with Wentz instead of Ryan.

Both quarterbacks could be let go after next season, but Atlanta and Philly would have to take on big cap hits.

If Shanahan believes he can change Carson Wentz and make him their QB of the future, then the Niners have to call the Eagles and make a deal.

Chicago Bears

In order for the Bears to make Wentz their QB next season, they will need to do a few things.

1.) Shed some contracts and create more salary cap room.

2.) Make sure the Eagles eat some money owed to Carson Wentz.

If the Bears can do these things then it should be possible for them to get Wentz.

I think the Matt Nagy-Carson Wentz relationship could be a good one.

We’ve seen Nagy roll out Mitchell Trubisky for designed QB runs and Wentz can definitely move around outside the pocket.

Plus, Wentz would get to throw to Allen Robinson II and every QB would love that opportunity.

For the long-term future of the Bears, a Wentz deal could be a major boost.

The NFC North could change quickly. The Minnesota Vikings are limited and Detroit may change their coaching staff.

The Green Bay Packers might be without Aaron Rodgers two years from now since they Jordan Love in the 2020 draft.
