NFL: Los Angeles Rams vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers Three Studs
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers took a step backward in the NFC playoff picture Monday night. They lost to the Los Angeles Rams. Now all four of their losses have come to NFC opponents. At the present moment, Tom Brady has never played in a wild card game in his career, and right now that is where the Bucs stand. For the Rams, it keeps them in a tie with the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West. One of the funniest things to come out of the game was Matt Gay the kicker for the Rams was with Tampa Bay last year and he had the game-winning field goal against his former team. Many will blame Brady for throwing two interceptions and costing the Bucs the game. I do not believe that it is all his fault. The running game was not good either. Although, the defense was a bright spot.
Kupp has been one of the elite slot receivers in the league for the past few years. Last night he showed just that against a young Tampa Bay Buccaneers secondary. Kupp made some big catches to extend Rams drives. As we all know when a team extends drives that usually leads to points. That happened for the Rams as they beat the Buccaneers 27-24. Kupp had 11 receptions for 145 yards. He was targeted 13 times so he only missed two catches. Kupp’s longest reception was 37 yards that one was a big moment in the game. Look for Jared Goff to continue to look for him for the rest of 2020 and beyond.
Woods like Kupp was a big part of the Rams’ offense last night. In some cases, if Kupp was not available Goff looked for Woods. He had 12 receptions for 130 yards and one touchdown. Woods had a big reception his longest was 35 yards. Goff targeted him 15 times so just like Kupp he only had three he could not catch. The Rams had 376 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Woods and Kupp both were a big part of it. This is why the Rams are on top of the NFC West. It was hard for the Bucs defense to keep track of Woods and Kupp.
Woods and Kupp would not have the game they had it not been for Goff. He went 39/51 for 376 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. The best part is the two interceptions did not hurt the Rams. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were only able to take advantage of one of them. Goff has had some good and bad games this year. This is a fast-paced offense that the Rams run and Goff does a great job running it. It showed last night because this was a big win for the Rams who are also heading to the playoffs.
In the end, this was a game that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers needed to win. They now will face the defending Super Bowl Champions Kansas City Chiefs this upcoming Sunday. This is hoping their season is not slipping away. The Bucs have a strong chance to make the wild card spot in the NFC playoffs. This next game will be the last challenge for them because they have the lonely Atlanta Falcons twice in the closing part of this season. Hopefully, they can bounce back against the Chiefs if not it will be an uphill battle for the rest of 2020.
