Tennessee Titans: Derrick Henry Carries Team in Overtime

The Tennessee Titans took down the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Divisional Round last season. Tennessee was down but never out against Baltimore in the same place on Sunday afternoon. After the Titans forced the Ravens to a 3-and-out on the first drive of overtime, Derrick Henry scored the game-winning 29-yard touchdown run in overtime as Tennessee took down Baltimore 30-24.

Once again, Henry was a nightmare for the Ravens defense. He rushed for 133 yards on 28 carries and a touchdown. Derrick Henry also caught one pass for -1 yards receiving for the Tennessee Titans. He is never a threat in the passing game but is always a threat to score on any play in the running game.

Henry is the heart and soul of Tennessee’s offense. He is currently the leading rusher in the NFL at the moment.

This is the third consecutive season that Derrick Henry has reached the 1,000-yard rushing mark. The game-winning touchdown in this game was also his 50th touchdown of his NFL career. Henry is a nightmare for any defense game-planning for him.

The offensive line has not been the same since Taylor Lewan has gotten hurt. Rodger Saffold also missed this game as well. Ty Sambraillo started the game at left tackle, but the offensive line was better when he was hurt and David Quessenberry played left tackle.

Derrick Henry is always a freak of nature every time he touches the ball. Head coach Mike Vrabel and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith have done a tremendous job of using him this season.

Helping Henry

This offense wouldn’t look the same if Derrick Henry was out of the lineup. He does so many things right and he also rarely fumbles the football as well. Henry is one of the rare dominant running backs in the NFL that is worth the money.

Even though Henry is dominant, they try to use a running back by committee so he doesn’t take so many hits when he doesn’t need too. It is also impossible for him to be tackled in the backfield for a loss because of how big and strong he is.

Derrick Henry is a rare breed at the running back position and is one of the best in the game, if not the best in the game at the moment. We will see what happens with him moving forward as well.

They have tried to take some of the load off of him this season with Jeremy McNichols, Darrynton Evans, and Dont’a Foreman as well.

The Tennessee Titans will go as far as Derrick Henry takes them and Ryan Tannehill is the perfect complimentary quarterback for him as well.

The Tennessee Titans (7-3) next game will be against the Indianapolis Colts (6-3) on the road next Sunday.

The Baltimore Ravens (6-4) next game will be on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers (10-0) on Thanksgiving Night aka Thursday night.
