Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes For MVP, Again?

The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the best teams in the NFL once again this season because of Patrick Mahomes. They have been to two consecutive AFC Championship Games and have also won the Super Bowl last season.

Mahomes is making his case for MVP this season after he threw the game-winning 22-yard touchdown pass to Travis Kelce with under a minute remaining regulation to lift the Kansas City Chiefs to a 35-31 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.

Once again, the Raiders left too much time on the clock for Patrick Mahomes after Derek Carr threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Jason Witten on the previous drive. Mahomes is amazing and he can slice and dice any defense at any time.

This is a huge win because they avoid the sweep against the Las Vegas Raiders and they would have lost the tiebreaker in the AFC West if their was any ties moving forward also.

Patrick Mahomes is the heartbeat of the Kansas City Chiefs. He continues to get it done when it matters the most.

Chad Henne is currently the backup quarterback for Kansas City. They hope they never have to see him on the football field at all this season.

Patrick Mahomes is on a different stratosphere than everybody else is. He completed 34-of-45 passes for 348 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

He also rushed for 16 yards on four carries.

So far this season, he has completed 254-of-374 of his passes (67.9 completion percentage) for 3,035 yards 27 touchdowns and two interceptions. He has also rushed for 187 yards on 39 carries and two touchdowns.

Patrick Mahomes currently leads the league in passing yards. Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers, Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, and Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks are also in this race as well.

Mahomes already has one MVP and one Super Bowl MVP in his career and he is just getting started. He is one of the favorites again this season to potentially win the award and I think he could very well.

However, Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks would still be my vote because Seattle would be a two-win football team without him.

Mahomes also has solid help around him. He has Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Le’Veon Bell in the backfield.

Edwards-Helaire rushed for 69 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns. He also caught one pass for eight yards receiving. Clyde Edwards-Helaire is having a nice rookie season for the Kansas City Chiefs.

He and Damien Williams were supposed to be the one, two, punch in the backfield but Williams opted out of the season before it began due to the coronavirus.

Bell rushed for 25 yards on seven carries and a touchdown. He has been doing a decent job since being released from the New York Jets and signing with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, and Demarcus Robinson are some of the key wide receivers and tight ends on the roster, along with Sammy Watkins, Mecole Hardman Jr., and Byron Pringle.

Kelce caught eight passes for 107 yards and a touchdown.

Hill caught 11 passes for 102 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Demarcus Robinson caught six passes for 44 yards receiving.

Byron Pringle caught three passes for 17 yards receiving.

This is one of the deepest and most talented wide receiver/tight end corps in the entire NFL.

The defense isn’t as strong, but the offensive line is pretty good.
