Cleveland Browns: Defense Stands Tall Once Again
For the second consecutive week, the Cleveland Browns were playing in bad and ugly weather. This week, it was rainy conditions in Cleveland and they made Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles offense look bad in a 22-17 win.
The Browns did not even have defensive end, Myles Garrett, in this game due to the coronavirus. Everyone was saying how Philadelphia’s offense was going to play well in this game without Garrett.
Welp, they were so wrong about that. The Eagles were picked off in the first-quarter by Sione Takitaki and he returned it 50 yards for a touchdown.
Denzel Ward also picked off Wentz in this game as well. They made life for him uncomfortable all game long. This defense sacked him five times. Olivier Vernon had three of those sacks in this game.
Myles Garrett could of had six sacks in this game if he was playing. The Cleveland Browns are in the playoff hunt because of how well their defense is playing this season.
This defense is the heartbeat of this football team. It is also one of the better units in the NFL as well.
Their offense maybe the reason why they miss the playoffs, but the defense will always travel with them until the very end.
Without this defense, their is no way they would be 7-3. This is the best Cleveland Browns team in a while. Cleveland always wins the line of scrimmage every single game.
Kevin Stefanski is going to be one of the favorites for coach of the year in the NFL. He has built a winning culture for the moment in Cleveland and because of the Baltimore Ravens (6-4) losing to the Tennessee Titans (7-3) 30-24 in overtime, Cleveland is now in second place in the AFC North at the moment.
As they say, defense wins championships. The Browns have a championship caliber defense, but they don’t have a championship caliber offense.
Cleveland is looking to end its playoff drought and they have not been to the postseason since the 2002 season.
This defense will always show up week in and week out. It is very rare for this defense not to show up. We will see what is going to happen moving forward with this Cleveland Browns defense, but a lot of things are promising for them.
The future looks bright for them on the defensive side of the ball and they are very young. They are going to have to ride this defensive wave for the rest of the season. If all of a sudden the defense were to collapse, the Cleveland Browns become a formidable football team as well here but will see how long this defensive wave lasts for.
The Philadelphia Eagles (3-6-1) next game will be at home against the Seattle Seahawks (7-3) next Monday night.
The Cleveland Browns (7-3) next game will be on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-9) next Sunday.
