Florida Gators: Three Studs vs Vanderbilt Commodores
The Florida Gators moved to 6-1 after their win over the Vanderbilt Commodores. At the beginning of the game, the Commodores led 10-7 for a while. Vanderbilt does not look like a team that hasn’t won a game. However, the Gators adjusted and won 38-17. Once again Kyle Trask shined even without his main weapon Kyle Pitts. Florida has not trailed a lot in any of their games other than when they lost the Texas AM Aggies early in October. The defense adjusted after the first few Vanderbilt drives resulted in points. Florida has three games remaining in their season. Those games will be against the Kentucky Wildcats, Tennessee Volunteers, and LSU Tigers. The Tigers game is made up as up till this point due to coronavirus. They are rolling at the right time as it looks like all roads lead to the SEC Championship against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Trask might have just made more of a vision of why he should be the Heisman Trophy favorite. In today’s game, he went 26/35 for 383 yards and three touchdowns. Trask leads the nation with 31 touchdowns passes. He has been the leader for the Florida Gators since Feleipe Franks got hurt in 2019. Trask has done a great job even without Kyle Pitts who has been out since the Georgia game in which he took a shot to the head. What I love about Trask is that he throws to many different receivers. Even when he is on the sidelines the Gators do not miss a beat because Emory Jones is a great backup. He has not a game this year where he has not thrown for at least three touchdowns. Trask is why the Gators could be a top-five team with the college football rankings come out this Tuesday.
Toney has been a main weapon since Kyle Pitts has been out. Even when Pitts was in there Toney was the main wide receiver. In today’s game against the Commodores, he had six catches for 107 yards and one touchdown. To me, he makes the plays when they need them. Toney also returns kicks. Like Kyle Trask, he is one of the reasons why the Gators only have one loss. He caught balls today that help extends drives which led to the Florida Gators scoring points. Florida will need him to continue his play in the final three games they have left.
Gamble has been the fill-in at tight end since Kyle Pitts got hurt. The Florida Gators have not missed a beat. He has been great and has also made big catches when Florida needs him to. In today’s game he three catches for 66 yards and two touchdowns. Like Kadarius Toney he makes the plays the Gators need. Again, we all know that Pitts will probably be a first-round pick in this year’s upcoming NFL Draft. That is why Gamble has been so important. I think we can still see Gamble have an impact when Pitts returns.
In the end, the Florida Gators had a tough first half. They were still able to find a way to adjust and win the game by 21 points. The defense after a while was able to slow down Vanderbilt. After they scored 10 points in the first half, they only scored seven after that. The offense continues to be great with Kyle Trask, Kadaruis Toney, and Kemore Gamble, and the company doing what they do. Look for them as they turn their attention to the Kentucky Wildcats at home this upcoming Saturday.
