Florida Gators: Peeking Ahead vs Vanderbilt Commodores
The Florida Gators are coming off another dominating win. This past Saturday at home they took care of former Gators quarterback Feleipe Franks and the Arkansas Razorbacks. The final score was 63-35. Once again quarterback Kyle Trask put on a show and continues to show he might be a solid Heisman Trophy candidate. It was cool to see all of the Gators players after the game confronts Franks. He was full of smiles when it happens. Many of us knew how this game was going to turn out it would be either a close game or a blowout. We got the blowout that shows the Razorbacks have a long way to come. The one aspect that I look at was the defense that is getting better as the weeks pass. This is good because it looks like the Gators are headed for a showdown with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
The Florida Gators come into this game with a 5-1 record. There are coming off a fresh win over the Arkansas Razorbacks. Florida had 593 yards of total offense against the Razorbacks. Kyle Trask went 23/29 for 356 yards and six touchdowns. He spread the ball around which makes the offense a powerhouse. Trask’s backup Emory Jones had a good game as well going 4/7 for 29 yards with one touchdown and a rushing touchdown. Both Keon Zipperer and Trevon Grimes both had two receiving touchdowns. The only mishap would be the one turnover that they committed. On the flip side, they were able to cause a fumble. The defense only had one quarter where they gave up more than seven points and that would be the fourth. This week should be similar as the Vanderbilt Commodores have not won a game this season.
The Commodores as I mentioned above have not won a game in 2020. In their six games, they have only had two close games. Those games were against the Texas AM Aggies which was their first game and last week against the Kentucky Wildcats. The loss last week was only by three points. In my eyes, this will an uphill battle for Vanderbilt this week. They currently sit last in the SEC East. They have four games remaining the Florida Gators and Tennessee Volunteers at home. The last two will both be on the road against the Georgia Bulldogs and Missouri Tigers which is a make-up game because of Covid-19. They only had 407 total yards last week against the Wildcats. I do not think they will be able to have that many against the Gators. Vanderbilt has upset Florida before but I do not see that this week.
This game will kick off at noon on Saturday afternoon. The only road game the Florida Gators have lost is the one at College Station against the Texas Am Aggies. I am sure that Vanderbilt would one to spoil Florida chances at the SEC Championship. The way the Gators played this past week that will be very hard. Look for the offense to excel once again and the defense to continue to get better. In my opinion, I could see a similar score to the game against Arkansas. I will be watching on Saturday afternoon right after College Gameday.
