USF Bulls: Peeking Ahead to the Houston Cougars

The USF Bulls according to head coach Jeff Scott hey have put the game against the Memphis Tigers to bed. They now head to Houston to play the Cougars in their last road game of 2020. The final two games are at home against the Navy Midshipmen and UCF Golden Knights. The one thing that will happen is that whoever wins the game on Saturday afternoon kickoff is scheduled at 3 PM EST. That team will end a losing streak that both teams the Cougars are on a two-game losing streak and the Bulls are on a six-game losing streak. Both teams are remarkably similar and had the same kind of fate this season. Houston is 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference. On the other hand, USF is 1-6 and 0-5 in the conference. After last week will this be the first conference win for USF?

USF Bulls

Many times this year I have written how mistakes have cost the Bulls many games this year. I am happy to report that his past week I cannot do that. This was the first game this year where USF did not have a turnover and very few penalties. This was by far the best game the USF Bulls have played all year. Let us look at the stats on offense Noah Johnson took control of the offense and threw for over 200 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, they made a couple of fourth-down stops and had a pick-six. For the first time on special, they made all four field goals and both extra points. The field goals were not short either all from 40 yards plus. Head coach Jeff Scott said they are hoping to take the positives into Houston.

Houston Cougars

Unlike the USF Bulls, the Cougars do have a conference win. One of the major reasons why the Houston Cougars are where they are is because they are giving up nearly 35 points per game. Coming into the game against USF they are coming off a loss to the Cincinnati Bearcats who are having a great and undefeated season. The two wins that have come against the Tulane Green Wave and the Navy Midshipman. The Bulls will host Navy next week at home at Raymond James Stadium. Houston has a good defense but a subpar offense. The Cougars will have a challenge on their hands especially if the same Bulls team that nearly beat Memphis last week shows up. If Houston can score points and keep the Bulls off the board they can win. Let us see what the Cougars do in the game on Saturday.

This game is a battle of teams that have had bad luck most of the year. Someone will have a win. The Cougars have three games after the USF Bulls. They will all three games on the road this is their last home game. Those games will be against the SMU Mustangs, Tulsa Golden Hurricanes, and Memphis Tigers. This might the game that USF finally gets back on track and get a win. After the Cougars game, they have two home games. I think the Bulls have turned a corner with the game last week against the Memphis Tigers. The positives from that game I believe will show up as the USF locker room is starting to believe.
