Minnesota Vikings: Can Dalvin Cook Carry Them to the Playoffs?

The Minnesota Vikings could be cooking up something in the kitchen once again. Dalvin Cook for the second consecutive week took Minnesota on his back once again in a 34-20 win against the Detroit Lions.

The Vikings started the season 1-5 and they are now 3-5 on the season. With having seven teams in the Wild Card positioning this season, Minnesota could go on a run and find a way to make it to the playoffs for the second consecutive season because of the dominant play by Dalvin Cook.

He finished the game with 206 rushing yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns. Cook also caught two passes for 46 yards receiving as well though.

He is the heartbeat of this football team. The Minnesota Vikings would be lost without him in the backfield.

Dalvin Cook had four touchdowns last weekend against the Green Bay Packers and also had over 200 scrimmage yards.

This is a run-first football team for the Minnesota Vikings. Dalvin Cook is what makes this football team successful. This is one of the reasons why they gave him a contract extension in the offseason.

Even though teams prepare to stop the run with him in the lineup, there is always a chance he can burst through the line, and then no one will stop him.

Dalvin Cook is one of the Top 5 to 10 running backs in the NFL. He could be one of the reasons why this team finds a way to make it to the playoffs this season, but they are only half way through the season.

Their late start could be the reason why they miss, but anything is possible in the NFL.

Despite the big day for Dalvin Cook, Alexander Mattison rushed for 69 yards on 12 carries.

Kirk Cousins was more effective in this game with 13-of-20 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns.

Justin Jefferson was the leading receiver in Minnesota for three receptions for 64 yards receiving.

This team is going to be dangerous moving forward because of Dalvin Cook. It is going to be interesting to see what else he can cook up moving forward. Cook is going to be in the Offensive Player of the Year conversation moving forward, but not the MVP though.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Dalvin Cook carry the Minnesota Vikings into the playoffs, but it may be too little too late. They could control their own fate moving forward and that could potentially help them out. It remains to be seen big-time what will happen.

The Detroit Lions (3-6) next game will be against the Washington Football Team (2-6) next Sunday at home.

The Minnesota Vikings next game will be against the Chicago Bears (5-4) on the road on Monday night football.
