USF Bulls: Going Inside the Memphis Tigers
The USF Bulls have four games left in their 2020 season. Up till this point, they only have one win. That win came in the first game against the Citadel Bulldogs. There have only been a few games where they had a chance to win. In the last four games, they have two at home and two on the road. One of those road games is happening this Saturday. They head to Memphis to play the Tigers. The Tigers are in the middle of the pack in the AAC. They have been in the championship game the last two years and have won them. The Bulls will have an uphill battle if they have any chance to beat Memphis. Head coach Jeff Scott has a huge mess and let see how it finishes. It might be time to just say what they will look like in 2021.
The biggest question for the USF Bulls since the season started has been who the starting quarterback will be. Up till this point that has not to be decided upon. Coach Scott has not had any consistency from any of the quarterbacks he has. Early in the season, the bright spot was the running game. The Bulls opponents have figured out that they can pass the ball. They will stack the box and make them throw the ball. The defense has had bright moments as well but recently has shown what happens when they are tired. The last game against Tulsa was not a good one. I was there in person and the mistakes keep piling up. If it, not turnovers it misses assignments like it was when the Golden Hurricanes got a 62-yard run. The Bulls lost 42-13 they got as close as eight points.
The Memphis Tigers are in their first season without Mike Norvell. It has gone well for them. The Tigers have a 3-2 record. They come into the game against the USF Bulls off of a loss to the Cincinnati Bearcats. The Bearcats are ranked number six in the country and are the best team in the AAC. The Tigers’ two losses other than the Bearcats were to the SMU Mustangs who are the other team that is on top of the AAC. One of the bright spots for Memphis was to beat the UCF Knights by one point. The Knights missed a game-winning field goal on the last play. Look for the Tigers to make the corrections from the last game and put it towards the Bulls. With a win, they can get right back to the top of the conference.
This game is set to kick off at noon. It will be on ESPN+. This Memphis Tigers could use this game to get a win and get back near the top of the conference. They do have the team to do just that. For the USF Bulls let see if they can play a complete game. It is about time to learn from all of the mistakes from previous games. The Bulls need to put a decent game together because many are saying they may not win another one for the rest of the year. I am hoping to see a good game and not a blowout.
