Buffalo Bills: Are They Now Primed to Win the AFC East?

The Buffalo Bills have not won the AFC East Title since 1995. They had a chance on Sunday afternoon to take more of a lead on the AFC East. Buffalo forced a fumble late in the game on Cam Newton and they took down the New England Patriots by a final score of 24-21.

The Bills are 6-2 and the Patriots are now 2-5. Buffalo is in an excellent position to make it to the playoffs and New England might be in tank mode for the rest of the season. Especially with the trade deadline coming up on Tuesday.

Tyler Bass made the game-winning 28-yard field goal for Buffalo in the fourth-quarter.

Josh Allen didn’t look exactly sharp in this game for the Buffalo Bills. He completed 11-of-18 passes for 154 yards and one interception. Allen also rushed for 23 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown.

Allen is the heart and soul of this football team. He is one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the NFL.

Zack Moss had a solid day on the ground as well with 81 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns. The Buffalo Bills need to use him more in the running game. This is a run-first football team despite the growth of Josh Allen though.

Devin Singletary was Buffalo’s leading rusher in this game with 86 yards rushing on 14 carries. He also caught one pass for six yards receiving. The running back tandem of Moss and Singletary could potentially work for this football team in the long run though.

Stefon Diggs caught six passes for 92 yards receiving. He has been a big help to Josh Allen’s growth this season though. The Bills acquired Diggs in a trade this past offseason from the Minnesota Vikings for some draft picks though.

Cole Beasley caught two passes for 24 yards receiving.

John Brown caught one pass for 11 yards receiving.

These two wide receivers are very good slot wide receivers. They were the number one and two options on this football team last season, but they are much better being those options.

Gabriel Davis was held without a catch. The Bills hope he will better next week.

Tyler Kroft caught one pass for 11 yards receiving. He is one of the many tight ends on this roster. Most of their tight ends, including Dawson Knox, are currently dealing with COVID-19 protocols.

This is a tough minded football team under Head Coach Sean McDermott.

Brandon Beane is the current general manager of this football team and he deserves a ton of credit. They are also one of the most underrated teams in the NFL.

The Miami Dolphins (4-3) also beat the Los Angeles Rams (5-3) on Sunday, Miami could be in the race in the AFC East until the very end. They won that division in 2008. That was the last team to win the AFC East not named the New England Patriots, who have won that division 11 years in a row.

The Buffalo Bills should have a home playoff game in 2020 and they have finally arrived in the AFC East.
