Atlanta Falcons: Will Quarterback Matt Ryan Be Traded?

The Atlanta Falcons are 0-5 to start the 2020 season and they just fired their general manager and head coach. Owner Arthur Blank is leaving everything on the table, including trading quarterback Matt Ryan.

He has won an MVP before though.

Matt Ryan is the heartbeat and the heart and soul of this football team. He may not be with this squad much longer.

The new head coach may want Trevor Lawrence from Clemson, Justin Fields from Ohio State, or Trey Lance from North Dakota State. This franchise may need an entire reboot. They didn’t win Super Bowl 51 after blowing a 28-3 lead against the New England Patriots.

The question would be, where would Matt Ryan potentially be traded too?

1. Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts experiment with Philip Rivers isn’t worth it at all. Rivers is only a 1-year deal worth $25 million and he isn’t the answer. They were honestly better off with Jacoby Brissett for another season with this team though.

Matt Ryan could make Indianapolis into a serious playoff contender. Matt Ryan would be one of the reasons why Indianapolis could snag the AFC South Division Title from the Tennessee Titans, but I don’t see it happening though.

If General Manager Chris Ballard traded for Matt Ryan, it means they admitted a mistake in signing Rivers.

2. Dallas Cowboys

They are going with Andy Dalton. Dak Prescott is done for the season, but what if Dalton went down? Ben DiNucci is not the answer. They may be fine with Andy Dalton, but why not get him back into his backup role and have Matt Ryan play it out.

I know they are committed to Dak Prescott long term but what if Matt Ryan got them to the Super Bowl though? Prescott would be shown the door though.

3. Philadelphia Eagles

Carson Wentz is broken and the Philadelphia Eagles need a change at the quarterback position. Jalen Hurts is not the answer. Matt Ryan would provide a spark for this team.

Philadelphia fans would love this move and Head Coach Doug Pederson and general manager Howie Roseman need to consider it though.

A couple of other teams he could be traded to: The Washington Football Team, the New York Giants, the Minnesota Vikings, and the San Francisco 49ers.

Ryan is 35 years old. So far this season, he is completing 63.2 percent of his passes. Matt Ryan (129-of-204) has thrown for 1,472 yards seven touchdowns and three interceptions. He has also rushed for 23 yards on nine carries.

If Matt Ryan is traded, teams may consider calling Atlanta about tight end Hayden Hurst and wide receivers Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. Maybe another day I will write about where they will be traded to though, along with Matt Ryan potentially being traded at the Thursday, October 29 NFL Trade Deadline though.

We will see what happens within the next couple of weeks. The Atlanta Falcons are one of three teams that are currently winless in the NFL along with the New York Giants and the New York Jets.

The Atlanta Falcons are currently in last place in the NFC South. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Carolina Panthers, and the New Orleans Saints are all tied for first place with a 3-2 record.

Do you think the Atlanta Falcons will trade away quarterback Matt Ryan and a former MVP at the trade deadline or no? Leave a comment below.
