Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Going Inside the New Orleans Saints
One of the teams that had an awesome of the season was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Their season begins on Sunday at 4:30 PM EST. They will be on the road in New Orleans to play division rival the Saints. With Tom Brady at the helm and Drew Brees for the Saints, this is a legendary matchup. Both of these gentlemen will be in the hall of fame one day soon. It will be very different with no fans allowed at the Mercedes Benz Superdome they will be pumping in crowd noise. It will be very different than the game we saw Thursday night between the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans. The Chiefs are one of two teams that will allow fans in the stands to start their seasons. This will be a matchup that could post the winner of the NFC South in 2020.
The Saints are a good team and we all know that. Most experts have them right back in the NFC Championship and Super Bowl. The Saints have Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas two great players. They also have a great defense that keeps most offenses off the scoreboard. Many say that Brees is losing arm strength and many believe this will be his final year. Either if the Saints win the Super Bowl or not. Brees will also expose a very young Buccaneers secondary. The same secondary he torched in both games last year. They have also added former Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston. The Saints’ defense will be going up against Tom Brady and a new offense. One of Tampa’s biggest weapons Mike Evans is questionable with an apparent hamstring injury. Let’s see how they do with all of the other weapons Brady has.
The Buccaneers went out and retooled their team after finishing 7-9 in 2019. The team decided it was finally time to cut ties with Jameis Winston. They now have the GOAT at the helm for at least the next two years. He brings his expertise in winning six Super Bowls. Many also say this is the most talent he had on offense ever. Brady will have Leonard Fournette, LeSean McCoy, and Ronald Jones in the backfield. He also convinced Rob Gronkowski to come out of retirement to join Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard. Brady has Evans and Godwin as one of the best duos of wide receivers in the NFL. It will be much better on the defense which is under Todd Bowles in his second year. The front seven are great featuring Vita Vea, Jason Pierre-Paul, Shaquil Barrett, Lavonte David, and Devin White.
I can see this game being very close. It will be a back and forth contest. Both teams have what you need to win and have a successful season. I also believe that both defenses will be tested. The one that wins the all-important turnover battle will come out with a victory. This game could be one of the deciding factors in winning the division at the end of the year. The Saints are in a way the same team for a year ago. The Buccaneers made major changes in trying to get back to the playoffs. The winner of this game will be set and the loser will have to play catchup before they play again in Tampa. Many believe the winner on the NFC South will be in the Super Bowl. That means if the Buccaneers win they would be the first-ever to host the championship game.
