San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is out for the next 12-16 weeks after breaking his foot, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Samuel broke his foot in workouts in Nashville with teammates.
He also has a Jones fracture and he already underwent surgery for it. Samuel posted on his Twitter page, “10 weeks I’m back better than the deebo you seen before (hands together emoji).”
He is 24 years old and Deebo Samuel was the 36th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of the University of South Carolina.
He played in 15 games last season. Samuel caught 57 passes for 802 yards receiving and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 159 yards on 14 carries and three touchdowns.
Deebo Samuel is one of the most versatile players in the NFL. He was one of Jimmy Garoppolo‘s favorite targets along with tight end George Kittle. Samuel would have potentially been the Super Bowl LIV MVP against the Kansas City Chiefs in Miami Gardens Florida if they didn’t blow a 20-10 lead in the fourth quarter and lost 31-20.
Samuel is the heartbeat of this wide receiver group. They will miss him to start the season.
Kyle Shanahan is also one of the best offensive minds in football. This team could be even better this season. The San Francisco 49ers will begin the season on September 13 against the Arizona Cardinals at home.
He probably will not return until October 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles at home or against the Miami Dolphins on October 11.
The San Francisco 49ers have not won the Super Bowl since Super Bowl XXIX against the Los Angeles Chargers by a score of 49-26.
This is going to be a revenge tour for the 49ers this season. We will see what happens with the ball club.
The wide receiver room is not very deep for the 49ers. General Manager John Lynch decided to trade up for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk from Arizona State in the first round with the 25th pick. The other guy they took in the first round was defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw from the University of South Carolina with the 13th overall pick.
The receiver crop is not deep and they also didn’t resign Emmanuel Sanders in the offseason. Sanders was acquired in a trade last season at the trade deadline with the Denver Broncos for a fifth-round pick.
Sanders left them in the offseason for the New Orleans Saints to play with quarterback Drew Brees. Emmanuel Sanders is one of the most underrated receivers in the NFL and Garoppolo overshot him in the Super Bowl that could have potentially won them the game and the title potentially.
