WWE: WrestleMania 36 Matches Predictions

WWE Wrestlemania 36 was supposed to come to us LIVE from Raymond James Stadium. As luck would have it, the current pandemic we are in changed everything. To be honest, it may even make things interesting. WWE has made ‘Mania a two-night event as a result of the virus outbreak. To make things more interesting, there will be no fans in attendance. With that, the Superstars will have a chance to make their mark on the WWE forever. Everything in the wrestling business revolves around the fans. Without the fans, the wrestlers will have to work harder to make the matches more entertaining. The true winners of this Wrestlemania will be those who can put all they are into their matches.

Regardless, here are my Wrestlemania 36 Predictions (in no particular order):

Becky Lynch (c) vs. Shayna Baszler

It only seems fitting that The Man defends her title at WrestleMania 36, which is the same pay-per-view where she defeated Ronda Rousey a year ago to earn it along with the name Becky Two Belts. Lynch’s WrestleMania opponent this year is The Queen of Spades, Shayna Baszler, who dominated at the Elimination Chamber to earn the opportunity.

Upon winning the Women’s Elimination Chamber match and earning herself an opportunity to challenge Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Title at WrestleMania 36, The Queen of Spades let Becky know that she was going to take the championship at WrestleMania 36. When we saw “The Queen Of Spades” take a chunk out of Lynch’s neck, the story took a dark turn. One can only assume this match will be bloody, and “The Man” seems to be in trouble. It’s going to come down to pain tolerance as both competitors are proficient in submission moves.

Winner: Shayna Baszler

But wait, there’s more. A “Beast” will take on a “Scottish Psychopath” in what looks to be another hard-hitting match.

Brock Lesnar (c) vs Drew McIntyre

For once, it looks as though we have someone who can take our eyes off Brock Lesnar. McIntyre and Lesnar are set to collide on the “Show of Shows” in what might be the hardest hitting match on the card. McIntyre won the Royal Rumble and did not hesitate to hone in on Lesnar. Taking on strong opponent after opponent, McIntyre looks unstoppable up to this point.

Many people have been built to look like they could dethrone Brock Lesnar, but they have all fallen short. Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman and Ricochet know how tough The Beast can be. Lesnar will do a good job putting him over, just like he did when The Scottish Psychopath threw him out of the ring at The Royal Rumble. Any other outcome would cause a lot of anger among the WWE Universe.

Winner: Drew McIntyre.

Charlotte Flair has also been a standout star since Wrestlemania. She will look to liver her dream of becoming NXT Women’s champion again. And it could end in a Nightmare.

Rhea Ripley (c) vs Charlotte Flair

Since the NXT brand established itself as a relevant (and dangerous) third brand after debuting on USA Network, many stars have gone back to what they consider their home. After her success at the Royal Rumble, Charlotte did the same. Upon winning the match, Flair decided to challenge Rhea Ripley. Since entering the doors of NXT, Ripley has been a force to be reckoned with. This match will be no different. With the title on the line, Ripley will rise to the challenge of the 10-time WWE champion.

Winner: Rhea Ripley.

WWE Monday Night RAW’s Tag Team Championships will also be on the line as the Street Profits will take on Angel Garza and Andrade.

Street Profits (c) vs Andrade & Garza

To be quite honest, this match is intriguing as the Street Profits are dominant as of late. Meanwhile, Garza and Andrade have a story that continues to evolve. What we see from this is anyone’s guess. However, the Street Profits have been the more solid (and entertaining) team.

WinnerStreet Profits.

Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins has had a streak of positivity as of late. Since gaining the Authors of Pain and Murphy as followers, he’s even become a bit stronger. Now calling himself the “Monday Night Messiah”, will have another soul to “save” if he can beat Owens. Rollins brings a high-flyer like style in contrast to Owens’ brawler style. This will be fun to watch regardless of the outcome.

Regardless of some matches being thrown together, there are also a handful of very “personal” ones. The first of this nature for ‘Mania is Edge vs. Randy Orton.

Edge vs Orton (Last Man Standing)

This match is quite possibly the most personal on the card and Wrestlemania wouldn’t be Wrestlemania without a match like this. Nine years ago Edge made the wrestling fans around the world feel his emotion as he announced he’d never wrestle again. A neck injury had ended his career and he would be unable to go out on his terms. Fast forward to 2020 and rumors of The “Rated R Superstar” signing a new contract to wrestle again began to swirl. Fans realized the rumors were true when waiting for number 21 – then the clock hit 0. The fans erupted upon Hearing Edge’s music.

Fast forward just a bit further and we’ve seen a few teasers. Teases that the team of Edge and Orton would re-form, and teases that Edge would go out on his terms after this match. We have even seen teases that Orton ended Edge before the match could happen after a brutal attack. But it’s happening. The team that was once “Rated- RKO” will duke it out with each other.

Winner and Last Man Standing: Edge.

As for the other “personal” matches, there is one more that can be considered personal. To make matters more interesting, it’s in a new match type. A “Boneyard match”.

AJ Styles vs. Undertaker (Boneyard Match)

This matchup is a bit of a strange one. AJ Styles called out Undertaker by naming his wife. Furthermore, Styles claimed that she made Undertaker wrestle any time he has recently. The contract signing soon arrived, and the “Deadman” walked again. Coming out in ring gear without his coat, hat and makeup, fans saw his human side. Seeing this took us back to a time where Diamond Dallas Page stalked Taker’s wife at the time. Whenever his wife is mentioned, a switch is flipped on ‘Taker. Whether we see him in the full – we’ll call it – “Deadman” gear or otherwise, is angry. Fans will see that anger after everything that’s gone on.

Winner: Undertaker.

Aleister Black vs Bobby Lashley

WWE has garnered no build for this one, but it looks as if it’s happening. A big guy with quick feet against a powerhouse. This will be fun. Black has been on a tear. The tear continues here.

Winner: Aleister Black.

Elias vs. Baron Corbin

The feud between Elias and Baron Corbin is a tad on the boring side, but WWE made it a little more interesting on SmackDown. As the two were fighting on an elevated platform, The King used his scepter to knock the singer to the ground. It was the kind of spot WWE couldn’t have done with a live crowd because it required cuts, editing and stunt work. This will not be the match of the night, but it could be more entertaining than we expect. Both men could use a win, but it makes more sense if Elias goes over.

Winner: Elias.

John Cena vs. The Fiend (Firefly Funhouse March)

This WWE rivalry started with John Cena announcing he would not be competing on the biggest show of the year. Leading fans to believe that he would be off the card, he noted he had done nothing to earn his spot. Out of nowhere, the Fiend enters the arena. John Cena has fought Bray Wyatt many times, including at WrestleMania, but he has never faced anyone like The Fiend before. After his disappointing title loss to Goldberg at Super ShowDown in February, Wyatt needs something to put him back on top. Even a non-title victory over Cena will do the trick. Giving them a Firefly Fun House stipulation allows them to create some unique moments we would not see in an arena full of fans. Furthermore, WWE will give us a glimpse into the creative mind of Bray Wyatt.

Winner: The Fiend.

Goldberg (c) vs. Roman Reigns (could change due to quarantine)

The Big Dog has earned this spot after having to relinquish the Universal Championship in October of 2018 due to the return of his Leukemia. The WWE Universe wasn’t sure when or if we would ever see Roman again in the ring but in February of 2019 the Big Dog made his big return and he absolutely ran with it.

He has been running mid-card ever since slowly working his way back up the ladder. Goldberg defeated the Fiend at the last Super Showdown to win his 2nd Universal title and when he asked his famous “Who’s Next?” Roman said two words “I’m next” these two will beat the hell out of each other at Mania but in the end, Roman will once again be Universal Champion. The story may not end there.

Winner: Roman Reigns.

Daniel Bryan vs. Sami Zayn (c)

The partnership between Daniel Bryan and Drew Gulak has led to The Yes Man getting an intercontinental title shot at WrestleMania against Sami Zayn.

Under normal circumstances, this would be the match of the night. It still could be, but if Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura and Gulak are at ringside, the action on the outside may distract from what’s going on inside the ring.

Zayn only won the title at Elimination Chamber on March 8, and it would be foolish to take it off of him so soon. The Liberator will get the win, but that doesn’t mean Bryan and Gulak will be out of the picture. This feud could last for the next few PPVs if WWE rotates opponents on both sides.

Prediction: Zayn

Bayley vs. Sasha Banks vs. Tamina vs. Naomi vs. Lacey Evans

Wrestlemania also brings an interesting SmackDown Women’s Championship match to the table. We will see five deserving women battle it out for the top spot in the division. The relationship between Bayley and Sasha Banks will be the focal point, but that may be to set up their feud while somebody like Lacey Evans or Naomi wins the title. They could also throw a curveball, at us and put the title on Evans. Lacey would be a deserving candidate to be champion for many reasons. Having her hold the title could also put more people in the spotlight to challenge her. Furthermore, a win for Evans will help strengthen her already strong character. We could also see a turn between Banks and Bayley should Bayley lose – by reason of distraction.

Winner: Lacey Evans.

BONUS Prediction: Otis vs. Dolph Ziggler

Fans have seen a developing “love triangle” consisting of Dolph Ziggler, Otis and Mandy Rose. For the last handful of weeks, Ziggler picked on Otis. As his crush on Mandy grew, Ziggler seemed ready to crush his dreams. Up until last week, Rose said she didn’t want to be fought over. Could this match happen? If so, I have Otis winning.
