Tampa Bay Vipers: What To Do with Quinton Flowers

So, Quinton Flowers has returned the Tampa Bay Vipers for now. His position might be solidified. After last week 25-0 win over the DC Defenders it looks like Taylor Cornelius will be the starter. The question is will Flowers accept the backup role? Is he even the back-up or does it belong to Aaron Murray? Those questions are left to be answered. The Vipers overall had a bounce-back week and now head out to Los Angeles. They will play the Wildcats who have a similar record of 1-3. As of right now, the Vipers are 3rd in the XFL power rankings. They should be 3-1 right now losing close games to the Seattle Dragons and Houston Roughnecks. Cornelius suffered a dislocated shoulder in the win over the Defenders. Trestman said he will be ready to play against the Wildcats.

In my opinion, if Flowers is willing to accept his role as a back-up then let him play that role. On the other hand, there is a rumor that he asked for a release for the Tampa Bay Vipers. If that is true than trade him and get something that could help the team. Flowers showed he can help the Vipers win. Although, it will be near impossible to replace Cornelius. He did it all last week ran and threw the ball. Despite the one interception he played solidly. The team also played solidly. I thought that the chemistry would be off. Trestman and the Vipers proved me wrong. The run game was strong and that help takes the pressure off Cornelius throwing the ball. The defense came up with a turnover and held the Defenders to nothing offensively. Look for the same this week in Los Angeles.

If Flowers wants to return, he will be the back-up. The Tampa Bay Vipers have something going well and don’t need a distraction. This team showed what they can be last week. If they can win against the Wildcats and get within one game of five hundred overall it will be a huge morale boost. Last week Aaron Murray said during half time that the quarterbacks just stay calm. He is still nursing a foot injury he suffered against the New York Guardians. To me, since Flowers left if Murray could play, he might be the back-up. I have talked to many Vipers fans and they think Flowers shouldn’t be allowed to come back. We all know he left for personal reasons. Many fans say that he left because he was unhappy with his role. He came out and said just that.

He felt that what he did against the Roughnecks earned him the starting job. Flowers didn’t take a snap in the second half. I feel he was upset and left the team to make a point. The problem with that the game he missed the Tampa Bay Vipers looked great. So, his decision was stupid. He is the hometown hero and trusts me they love him in Tampa. His future with the Vipers is still up in the air. Either way, Cornelius and company will be ready to play and possibly beat the LA Wildcats. It will be another primetime Sunday night game.
