New York Yankees 2020 Spring Training Preview
Aaron Boone has led the New York Yankees to at least 100 wins or more in each of his first two seasons as the manager of this ball club. New York has not been to the World Series since 2009. The Yankees won it all that season in six games against the Philadelphia Phillies.
New York is still looking for its precious 28th World Series Title, but it might be a while until they get it. The New York Yankees lost to the Houston Astros in the ALCS last season in six games and New York felt like they have been cheated over because of the shenanigans of the Houston cheating allegations.
The Astros also knocked them out of the playoffs in 2017, meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox knocked out New York from the postseason in 2018.
Their fan base and players have expressed frustration over it, but they need to stop crying over split milk about it and they need to move on and focus on the 2020 season instead.
One of the things this team dealt with last season was a ton of injuries. The Yankees had no issues overcoming them what so ever. Aaron Boone and a lot of others hope it doesn’t happen this season.
New York will most likely be the favorites once again in the American League East. The Tampa Bay Rays will probably finish in second place. The New York Yankees will probably get too tee off on the Baltimore Orioles once again. The Boston Red Sox will probably finish in third place in the division and the Toronto Blue Jays will probably finish in fourth place in the division.
The projected line up for this team will be 1. (2B) DJ LeMahieu 2. (RF) Aaron Judge 3. (SS) Gleyber Torres 4. (DH) Giancarlo Stanton 5. (C) Gary Sanchez 6. (1B) Luke Voit 7. (LF) Mike Tauchman 8. (3B) Gio Urshela 9. (CF) Brett Gardner.
Paxton will probably be out for a little while due to recent surgery.
Jordan Montgomery or Jonathan Loaisaga could take some of Paxton’s starts until he returns from his injury.
The strength of this team is the bullpen. I would expect Aroldis Chapman to be the closer once again for this baseball team.
Pitchers and catchers will report for the New York Yankees on Thursday, February 13. Everyone has to report by Tuesday, February 18.
They will play their spring training games at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa Bay, Florida.
New York will begin spring training play on February 22 against the Toronto Blue Jays.
For the Yankees fans base, they hope this is the start of a nice long run into October this season. New York will also have to worry about the Minnesota Twins, the Cleveland Indians, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the Houston Astros, the Oakland Athletics, and the Texas Rangers in the American League.
The Chicago White Sox could surprise people also but we will see.
New York will begin the season on the road against the Baltimore Orioles for a three-game set starting on Thursday, March 26.
The Yankees will have their home opener on Thursday, April 2 and it will begin a three-game set against the Toronto Blue Jays.
