Kansas City Chiefs: Three Stars From Super Bowl LIV
Super Bowl LIV didn’t disappoint anyone. It was a great game between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs. One reason that 49ers made it to the Super Bowl was their running game. A three-headed monster with Raheem Mostert, Tevin Coleman, and Matt Breida. On the other hand, the Kansas City Chiefs used their offense that is run by Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs are the first team in the league to have three come from behind postseason wins. It started with the Houston Texans in the divisional round after that if the AFC Championship was the Tennessee Titans. Then it occurred Sunday night in Super Bowl LIV when they overcame a 10-point deficit.
Here are three stars from Super Bowl LIV
Coming into this game it was the run game of the 49ers was supposed to steal the show. On the flip side, it was Mr. Williams that had something to say about that. He has 17 carries for 104 yards and one touchdown. Williams averaged 6.1 yards a carry. He was also a part of the receiving side of the offense, he had four catches for 29 yards and one touchdown. The rushing touchdown was the one that capped the game for the Chiefs. Williams had an overall good game. This helped Mahomes even though he didn’t have the best games. The 49ers kept the offense at bay until the 4th quarter but Williams and Mahomes shined when they needed too. Which lead to a Super Bowl LIV win.
Kelce is called the second-best tight end in the NFL behind George Kittle. Like with Williams, Kelce was supposed to be kept at bay. This is Mahomes’ favorite target. Kelce had one carry for two yards. He contributed more to the passing game. Kelce was targeted six times and he made all six catches. He had 43 yards and one touchdown. Kelce also was a big part of blocking for Damien Williams and company. Many people thought he would have a bigger game. To me, he just did enough to help the Chiefs win. Kelce has been a big part of the offense all season. The six catches help obtain third downs which moved the sticks and kept the Chiefs moving. This was a big part why they win Super Bowl LIV.
He was the Super Bowl LIV MVP. Mahomes is a once in a lifetime talent. Many say they remind him of a younger version of Aaron Rodgers. He had three and half bad quarters. However, Mahomes turned it on with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter. This is when the Chiefs needed him the most. For the game, he went 26 for 42 for 286 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. On the first turnover, the 49ers scored but on the second one the defense held up. Mahomes also rushed for 29 yards on nine carries and had one touchdown. So, he accounted for 21 of the Chiefs 31 points. If it wasn’t for an offside penalty by Dee Ford this might be back to back championships for the Chiefs. He and Andy Reid have the Chiefs moving in the right direction.
