Denver Nuggets Rally in Second-Half to Take Down Utah Jazz

The Denver Nuggets faced a 48-43 halftime deficit against the Utah Jazz at home at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado on Thursday night. Denver took their game to another level in the second half and outscored Utah in the third quarter by a score of 33-22. The Nuggets won the game by a score of 106-100 over the Jazz.

Nikola Jokic led the way for Denver with 28 points. He shot 57.9 percent from the field. Jokic also grabbed four rebounds, recorded 10 assists, and recorded three steals.

Will Barton scored 18 points for the Denver Nuggets. He shot 43.6 percent from the field. Barton also grabbed five rebounds, recorded one assist, and blocked one shot.

 

Jerami Grant scored 15 points. He shot 50 percent from the field. Grant also grabbed five rebounds and recorded one steal.

Torrey Craig scored 13 points. He shot 60 percent from the field. Craig also grabbed 10 rebounds, recorded one assist, blocked two shots, and recorded one steal.

Their bench scored 25 points. Michael Porter Jr. scored 12 of them. He also grabbed 12 rebounds, recorded two assists, blocked one shot, and recorded one steal.

Rudy Gobert scored 21 points for Utah. He shot 90 percent from the field and all 10 of his shots were near the basket. Gobert also grabbed 11 rebounds, recorded one assist, blocked three shots, and recorded one steal.

He was named as a Western Conference All-Star Reserve before the game and so was teammate Donovan Mitchell. The game will be played at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois on February 16.

Mitchell struggled in this game with only four points. He shot 8.3 percent from the field and attempted 12 of them. Donovan Mitchell also grabbed five rebounds and recorded eight assists.

Bojan Bogdanovic scored 18 points for the Utah Jazz. He also shot 42.9 percent from the field. Bogdanovic also grabbed six rebounds and recorded one assist.

Joe Ingles only scored eight points for Utah. He shot 37.5 percent from the field. Ingles also grabbed four rebounds, recorded eight assists, and recorded one steal.

Their bench scored 47 points. Jordan Clarkson scored 37 of them and Georges Niang scored 10 of them. Clarkson shot 59.1 percent from the field. He also grabbed two rebounds, recorded two assists, and recorded one steal. Jordan Clarkson has been tremendous ever since being traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Niang shot 60 percent from the field. He also recorded one assist.

Utah’s biggest lead in this game was 11 points.

Denver’s biggest lead in this game was 17 points.

As of right now, the Utah Jazz is currently the fourth seed in the Western Conference.

The Denver Nuggets have the same record as the Los Angeles Clippers (33-15), but Denver is currently the number two seed in the Western Conference right now.

The Nuggets are currently four games back of the Los Angeles Lakers (36-10) for the number one seed in the Western Conference and Utah is currently five games back of them.

The Dallas Mavericks (29-18) and the Houston Rockets (29-18) are currently in the fifth and sixth spots out west. They are both 2.5 games back of Utah for fourth and the Oklahoma City Thunder (29-20) are 4.5 games back for the fourth spot in the Western Conference.

These two teams will play each other two more times this season, including a match up next week on Wednesday, February 5 at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Utah Jazz’s (32-16) next game will be on the road on Saturday night against the Portland Trail Blazers (21-27).

The Denver Nuggets (33-15) next game will be on the road on Friday night against the Milwaukee Bucks (41-6).
