Kansas City Chiefs: Three Keys to Win Super Bowl LIV
We are just a few days from Super Bowl LIV. The game will be in Miami, Florida at Hard Rock Stadium. Which is home to the Miami Dolphins and Miami Hurricanes. Kickoff for the game is scheduled at 6:30 PM EST. The two teams that will be playing for the title will be the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs. Both teams have a history with this game. The Chiefs played in the very first Super Bowl and also won Super Bowl 3. The 49ers have won five and will be looking to tie the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots which both have six titles. It has been a while since either team has been in the game. The Chiefs were close last year but fell in overtime to the Patriots. The 49ers haven’t been since the Super Bowl XLVII when they lost to the Baltimore Ravens.
Here are three keys for the Chiefs heading into Super Bowl LIV.
Chiefs Run Defense
Chiefs run defense ranked 25th in the NFL. Now many will say how is that a key for them to win. Well, they are coming off of holding one of the tops back in the NFL to 69 yards. That running back was Derek Henry. In the previous three games, he had 211, 182 and 195 yards against the Houston Texans, New England Patriots, and Baltimore Ravens.
Now they get to try and stop a two-headed monster. The two running backs are Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman (Shoulder). Mostert alone had 220 yards and three touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship. Coleman didn’t have a big game against the Packers but still has helped the 49ers. The Chiefs will need another performance like against the Titans. If they can do that and keep 49ers offense off the field and scoreboard they can win.
Chiefs Offense Line vs 49ers Defensive Line
If the Kansas City Chiefs can keep the 49ers off Patrick Mahomes they can win. The line that the 49ers have has three skillful players in Nick Bosa, DeForest Buckner, and Arik Armstead. It will be a true test for the Chiefs offensive line. That line is Mitchell Schwartz, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Austin Reiter, Andrew Wylie, and Eric Fisher.
In the AFC Championship Game, they did a fantastic job. Mahomes did everything he wanted to do. If this line fails, the 49ers will dominate the game. On the other hand, if they can stop the 49ers at Mahomes has time to throw and run it will be a long game for the 49ers. We have all seen what happens when Mahomes has time to make plays. He can torch any team in the league. This to me is the most important battle this year Super Bowl.
Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid
Mahomes is a special talent. Reid is one of the best coaches in NFL history. Given two weeks to prepare for the 49ers Reid will have a game plan. Mahomes can make any throw he needs and has carried the team when it needs it. He has struggled against defenses like the one that the 49ers run. The Los Angeles Chargers run a similar defense that he had problems with. I believe these two will be able to break down the defense. They will also have a defensive plan to stop Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers offense. Look for the Kansas City Chiefs to use Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill to spread San Francisco out. If all the above happen the Chiefs will win Super Bowl LIV and obtain their second Super Bowl Championship.
Will these three keys help the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV? Leave a comment below.
