Tennessee Titans: Three Stars in win Over the New England Patriots

The Tennessee Titans shocked the world Saturday night. They went into New England and upset the New England Patriots. It was a close game throughout. The Titans rode the unbelievable RB, Derrick Henry and never let the game play into the favor of the Patriots. They were ready for this challenge and the stood up to Goliath. There were several stars on this night for the Tennessee Titans. However, these three stood out the most.

Derrick Henry

I stated in my three keys to an upset that Henry would have to be a workhorse for the Tennessee Titans. That he was. Henry ran the ball 34 times against the Patriots. He totaled 182 yards on the ground. That was good enough to set a team postseason record. The great Eddie George with 162 yards held the previous record.

Henry is like a fine wine. He just gets better with time. Nevertheless, the Titans are going to have to find different ways to move the ball next week against a stubborn Baltimore Ravens team. Although, for this week, Henry was a serious force to reckon with.

Arthur Smith

Who is Arthur Smith you might be asking? Smith is the offensive coordinator and play-caller for the Tennessee Titans. He was remarkable on Saturday night. Smith had a fantastic mix of run and pass. Even though the Titans only threw the ball 16 times, Smith made that 16 count. For this, he is included in our stars of the game.

Smith is going to need to be on top with another fantastic performance again next week. If the Titans want to continue with this formula, it will be Smith that makes it work.

Rashaan Evans

Evans was all over the field for the Tennessee Titans on Saturday night. The Titans selected him in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. We saw him in coverage, filling his gaps responsibilities, and making key plays all over the field. In fact, he was a critical piece to the goal line stand the Titans had near the end of the first half. Evans would have a piece of every play in that series. Thus forcing the Patriots to settle for a FG and keeping it a one-score game. Rashaan Evans finished the game with 10 tackles (6 solo and 4 assists).

The Titans are going to need a repeat performance from Evans next week against Lamar Jackson and company. Evans will have to be all over the second-year QB of the Raven if the Titans are to stay close in that one.

The Tennessee Titans pulled off the unthinkable on Saturday Night. Due in large part to the players and coaches above. However, it took a total team effort to complete the task of beating the New England Patriots.
