The Utah Jazz Hold Off the Portland Trail Blazers
The Utah Jazz had everything going right for them at home on Thursday night against the Portland Trail Blazers. In the fourth quarter, Portland outscored Utah by 39-25 but the Jazz was able to hang on at home against the Trail Blazers by a score of 121-115.
Utah did not trail once in this game. They led by as many as 23 points at one point in the game.
Donovan Mitchell led the way for the Utah Jazz with 35 points. He was in the zone all game long. Mitchell shot 63.2 percent from the field. He also grabbed three rebounds and recorded seven assists.
Joe Ingles was also in the zone in this game for Utah with 26 points. He shot 66.7 percent from the field. Ingles also grabbed five rebounds, recorded four assists, and recorded one steal.
Rudy Gobert and Bojan Bogdanovic each scored 16 points in this game for the Jazz. Gobert shot 100 percent from the field and he made all seven shots. Rudy Gobert did not attempt a three-pointer in this game as well. He also grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked one shot. Bogdanovic shot 33.3 percent from the field. He also grabbed four rebounds, recorded one assist, and recorded one steal.
Their bench scored 20 bench points. Jordan Clarkson made his Utah Jazz debut after being acquired in a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers. He scored nine points off the bench. Clarkson shot 33.3 percent from the field. He also recorded one steal.
Damian Lillard was in the zone for most of the night for the Portland Trail Blazers. He scored 34 points. Lillard shot 47.6 percent from the field. He also grabbed four rebounds and recorded eight assists.
C.J. McCollum scored 25 points for Portland. He shot 43.5 percent from the field. McCollum also grabbed four rebounds, recorded two assists, and recorded one steal.
Carmelo Anthony scored 12 points. He shot 38.5 percent from the field. Anthony also grabbed seven rebounds and recorded one steal.
Kent Bazemore only scored six points for the Trail Blazers. He shot 28.6 percent from the field. Bazemore also grabbed five rebounds and recorded one steal.
Their bench scored 30 bench points. In fact, Anfernee Simmons scored 15 points off the bench for Portland. He shot 77.8 percent from the field. Simmons also grabbed 10 rebounds in this game.
Skal Labissiere scored 10 points. He shot 66.7 percent from the field. Labissiere also grabbed seven rebounds and recorded three assists.
Nassir Little was scoreless in 10 minutes of action for Portland. He hasn’t been the difference-maker so far this season that the Portland Trail Blazers have been hoping for.
At the moment, the Utah Jazz is currently in the sixth spot in the Western Conference. They are still a few games back (1.5) of the Dallas Mavericks for the fifth spot in the Western Conference.
As for Portland, they are currently in the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Also, the Trail Blazers have a one-game lead on the San Antonio Spurs (12-18).
These two teams. in the Trail Blazers and the Jazz, will meet each other three more times this season and both of those games will be at the beginning of February.
Portland’s (14-18) next game will be at home on Saturday night against the Los Angeles Lakers (24-7).
Utah’s (19-12) next game will be on the road on Saturday night against the Los Angeles Clippers (23-10).
