Los Angeles Clippers Edge the Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Clippers theme seemed to be on Christmas Day at the Staples Center as the road against the Los Angeles Lakers was to bend but never break. The Clippers should have been put away but they never were.

They had a 109-106 lead with 3.6 seconds remaining in regulation. It appeared as if the Lakers were going to keep the ball on that possession, but Patrick Beverley‘s block on Lebron James from the three-point went off of Lebron instead of Beverley and it was shown on instant replay.

Because of it, Paul George made two free throws with 1.9 seconds remaining to ice the game for the Los Angeles Clippers and they have beaten the Los Angeles Lakers for the second time this season by a score of 111-106.


George finished the game with 17 points. He only shot 27.8 percent from the field. Paul George also grabbed five rebounds, recorded three assists, and blocked three shots.

Kawhi Leonard once again was the leading scorer in this game for the Clippers with 35 points. He shot 57.9 percent from the field. Leonard would hit some big shots in this game and he neutralized Lebron James and other Lakers players on the defensive end of the floor. Kawhi Leonard also grabbed 12 rebounds, recorded five assists, and recorded one steal.

Ivica Zubac scored 11 points. He shot 50 percent from the field. Zubac also grabbed eight rebounds and recorded one assist.

Patrick Beverley didn’t play the greatest offensive game, but he played this game like the heart of a champion and if his life was on the line.

Beverley scored eight points. He shot 42.9 percent from the field. Patrick Beverley also grabbed nine rebounds, recorded four assists, blocked one shot, and recorded one steal.

Their bench scored 36 bench points. Montrezl Harrell scored 18 points for the Los Angeles Clippers. He shot 66.7 percent from the field. Harrell also grabbed six rebounds and blocked one shot.

Lou Williams struggled in this game. He only scored six points in this one. Williams also only shot 16.7 percent from the field. He also grabbed two rebounds, recorded seven assists, and recorded two steals.

Anthony Davis scored 24 points for the Los Angeles Lakers. He shot 47.1 percent from the field. Davis also grabbed six rebounds, recorded three assists, blocked two shots, and recorded two steals.

Lebron James scored 23 points for the Lakers. He shot 37.5 percent from the field. James struggled in this game early on. He also grabbed nine rebounds, recorded 10 assists, blocked one shot, and recorded two steals.

The Lakers bench actually played well in this game with 49 bench points. Kyle Kuzma scored 25 points. He shot 47.1 percent from the field. Kuzma also grabbed four rebounds and recorded one steal.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 13 points. He shot 62.5 percent from the field. Caldwell-Pope also grabbed two rebounds, recorded two assists, blocked one shot, and recorded one steal.

In the final five minutes of the game, the Los Angeles Clippers held the Los Angeles Lakers to only five points.

The Lakers have now lost four consecutive games.

Lebron James now has a lingering groin injury and he might miss some upcoming games for the Los Angeles Lakers.


The Lakers are still the number one seed in the Western Conference, but they only lead the Denver Nuggets (21-9) by 2.5 games for first place.

The Los Angeles Clippers were the fourth seed in the Western Conference entering this game and they now jumped to the third seed in the Western Conference.

The Clippers are only two games back for the first spot in the Western Conference.

The Los Angeles Clippers’ biggest lead in this game was five points.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ biggest lead in this game was 15 points.

The Clippers love to be more physical than the Lakers.

The Los Angeles Clippers (23-10) will next play against the Utah Jazz (18-12) at home on Saturday night.

The Los Angeles Lakers (24-7) will next play against the Portland Trail Blazers (14-17) on the road on Saturday night.
