Sacramento Kings: Climbing Back in the Western Conference

The Sacramento Kings had a really bad start to the 2019-2020 season. It appeared as if their slow start (0-5) to the season was going to because problems for the 2019-2020 season, but it appears as if they turned things around.

Sacramento is 7-9 so far this season and they are currently in ninth place in the Western Conference. The Kings are only one game back of the eighth seed. The Phoenix Suns currently own that spot with an 8-8 record.

The west has been extremely weird so far this season. The Oklahoma City Thunder, the Portland Trail Blazers, the San Antonio Spurs, and the Golden State Warriors all made it to the playoffs last season. They would not be in the playoffs if the season ended right now.

The only teams that would be in the playoffs right now if the season ended today that made it last season are the Houston Rockets, the Denver Nuggets, the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Utah Jazz.

The Los Angeles Lakers, the Dallas Mavericks, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Phoenix Suns did not make it to the playoffs last season. For some strange reason, the bottom tier playoff teams in the west seem to be down this season compared to last season.

Minnesota and Phoenix are not on the same level as the other six playoff teams in the west.

As for Sacramento, they have not made it to the playoffs since 2006. The Kings lost in six games that season against the San Antonio Spurs.

The last time Sacramento won a playoff series was in 2003-2004 against the Dallas Mavericks in six games.

Luke Walton is the new head coach of this team this season. Dave Joerger was the coach from 2016-2019. His record was 98-148.

De’Aaron Fox is one of the key players on this basketball team. He is averaging 18.2 PPG, 4, RPG, 7 APG, 0.6 BPG, and 0.8 SPG so far this season.

Buddy Hield is averaging 20.4 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 2.3 APG, 0.4 BPG, and 0.8 SPG so far this season.

Marvin Bagley III has only played in one game so far this season. He is one of the key components on this basketball team. Bagley III was the second overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. He scored 14 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, blocked one shot, and recorded one steal. He has had a thumb injury that has caused him to miss games so far this season.

Richaun Holmes has been a surprise for the Sacramento Kings so far this season. He is averaging 11.4 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 0.9 APG, 1.6 BPG, and 0.8 SPG so far this season.

Harrison Barnes is having an underrated season for Sacramento. He is averaging 16.1 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 1.9 APG, 0.3 BPG, and 0.9 SPG so far this season.

Bogdan Bogdanovic is averaging 15.2 PPG, 2.7 RPG, 4.9 APG, 0.1 BPG, and 1.4 SPG so far this season.

Nemanja Bjelica is averaging 10.3 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 2.4 APG, 0.4 BPG, and 1 SPG so far this season.

This team could make it to the playoffs this season. It would be a good thing in Sacramento. However, does this franchise need to move to Seattle at some point to gain some attraction?

The Sacramento Kings are 27th in the NBA in Points Per Game. They are averaging 105.3 PPG so far this season.

Sacramento is giving up 108.9 PPG so far this season. That is the 13th best mark in the NBA.

There point differential is an issue so far this season and it will cause them to miss the postseason.

The Kings’ next game will be on the road on Wednesday night against the Philadelphia 76ers.
