New England Patriots: A Look Ahead vs the Philadelphia Eagles

The New England Patriots return from their bye week. They will be heading on the road to face the Philadelphia Eagles. This, of course, is the rematch on Super Bowl 52. The Eagles would win the game and claim their first Super Bowl Championship in franchise history. The Patriots are currently 8-1 they are coming off their first loss to the Baltimore Ravens before the bye week. The eagles are also coming off a bye. On the other hand, they won before the bye week defeating the Chicago Bears. They had an up and down season but are tied for first place in the NFC East. The Eagles are currently tied with the Dallas Cowboys who they lost too earlier this season. The Patriots are dominating. Now the Ravens may have exposed them with Lamar Jackson and their defense. Look for Bill Belichick to make adjustments out of the bye.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are tied with the San Francisco 49ers for the best record in the NFL They met their match with the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens used Lamar Jackson who most teams have had trouble stopping. The Patriots, as we know, like to line up in the zero blitzes on defense. It has worked against all but the Ravens. However, look for them to come after Carson Wentz. The Eagles may not have running back Jordan Howard due to injury. The Patriots will look to continue to dominate on defense. Tom Brady and company didn’t look good against the Ravens. Look for Josh McDaniel’s to make some adjustments. The one thing the Patriots need to do is get the running game going. They have Sony Michel, James White, and Rex Burkhead to be a bigger part. They will also try and get Mohamed Sanu more involved.

Philadelphia Eagles

As I said above the Eagles defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 52. Now that Jordan Howard may not play the Eagles will have to rely on Miles Sanders. They know the Patriots will be coming after them with the blitz. How do you counteract the blitz establish the run game and away you will go. Carson Wentz has had a decent season so far. He knows that Nick Foles left in free agency. The team is his now. He will have to have a good game for the Eagles to win. The defense will have to keep Tom Brady and the Patriots offense off the field. As they did when they won the Super Bowl.

This will be a good Super Bowl rematch. It will be an early evening kickoff on the east coast. Both teams are coming off a bye week. In some cases, both teams need to win this game. In the Eagles case, you don’t want to fall behind the Dallas Cowboys. The New England Patriots have to watch the Baltimore Ravens for playoff seeding. Look for a good game.
