Tampa Bay Buccaneers: A Look Ahead vs the Arizona Cardinals

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finally return home. They have been on a long road trip. Five out of the remaining games they have are at home. The unfortunate part is they are coming off yet another heartbreaking loss. This one coming at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks. A game that Buccaneers played well enough to win. They were able to force overtime. The one problem that has plagued them all year the defensive secondary. It showed its ugly head and in overtime, the Seahawks drove right down the field and scored. Another problem the Buccaneers have been having is penalties. In the third quarter on back to back plays, it caused them four points. The first penalty was on wide receiver Scotty Miller when he stepped out of bounds and was the first to touch it. The second one was on Donovan Smith got a holding call.

That call brought back a 20-yard run that quarterback Jameis Winston had completed. They are happy to home finally.

Arizona Cardinals (3-5-1)

The Cardinals began their 2019 season with a tie with the Detroit Lions. Their three wins have come against the Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons, and New York Giants. Those three teams are a combined 3-22. They, of course, have the number one overall pick in Kyler Murray. Murray has had a decent rookie year. This will be the first game that former head coach Bruce Arians will be coaching against the Cardinals. They come into the game with a loss to NFC West opponent the San Francisco 49ers. It was a close game as they lost by three points. Earlier this week running back David Johnson said he is playing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers have been good at stopping the run. Look for Murray to be running because of the blitzes that the Buccaneers will bring. This is a game that the Cardinals believe they can win.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-6)

The Buccaneers could right now be contention for a playoff spot. They had three losses that could be won. They lost to the San Francisco 49ers, New York Giants, and Seattle Seahawks. All three of those were winnable games. So, if they would have won those games, they would 5-3 instead. Like I said above they lost to the Seahawks in overtime. There have been games where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made many mistakes. Most want to blame quarterback Jameis Winston. Now I am not saying that Winston isn’t to blame. The team is young in the secondary outside of Vernon Hargreaves. It has been exploited by many teams. We will have to see what Todd Bowles the defensive coordinator has in store for Kyler Murray. If the Buccaneers play like they did last week against the Seahawks, they will win.

I believe the Tampa Bay Buccaneers being back home at Raymond James Stadium will help them. It has been so long since they were at home. The front seven on defense will give Kyler Murray nightmares. If Winston and the offense can stay away from making mistakes, they Buccaneers should be able to get their third win. Let’s see what happens at 1 pm EST on Sunday.
