USF Bulls: Looking Ahead To The Temple Owls
The USF Bulls come into week 11 off their second and last bye week. At least they will be at home at Raymond James Stadium. They will be playing host to the Temple Owls. The Owls are an in-conference game. Before their bye, they defeated another conference opponent in the East Carolina Pirates. The Bulls won on the road. Now in that win, some key players got banged up. Two of their quarterbacks Jordan McCloud and Jah’Quez Evans were both injured. Now the Bulls need both to be back as they were a big part of the win. The game against the Pirates was the best and a complete game for the Bulls. For the Temple Owls, they are coming in on a two-game losing streak. They lost last week to UCF Knights by a score of 63-21. They will be looking to end that streak.
The Owls overall record is currently 5-3. They are 2-2 within the conference and 1-2 on the road. The Owls suffered their first home loss just two weeks ago to the then-undefeated SMU Mustangs. They are just one win away from being bowl eligible. Many of the Owls fans believe this is the game that could be the one. They know the Bulls have had an up and down year. At times the Bulls have looked vulnerable. The Owls have beat the top team in the American Athletic Conference in the Memphis Tigers. Sad news for the Owls is that the home team has won every game in the series. A series that started in 2012. The question is consistency with the Owls offense. If it can be, they gave a shot to beat the Bulls. They can run with players like Re’Mahn Davis and Jager Gardner.
For the Bulls, it has been an up and down season. They have won one then lost one for most of the season. However, their bye week couldn’t have come at a better time. This gave players like Jordan McCloud and Jah’Quez Evans time to heal. If the Bulls are going to also become bowl eligible, they will need to win two out of the remaining four. This game against the Owls might be one of those two. They are coming off a big win over the East Carolina Pirates. This of course came after they got dominated by the Navy Midshipmen. Head coach Charlie Strong said after the loss to Navy that they had to shake some things up. Well, they did that against the Pirates. It looks pretty good if McCloud, Evans and Jordan Cronkrite can run free. They also got the pass involved finding Randall St. Felix.
If the Owls can find consistency on offense the game will be interesting. They have shown they can beat teams like Memphis but looked bad against UCF. If the Bulls come out and play as they did against the Pirates, it will be a long night for the Owls. The Bulls should be able to use the home crowd with an 8 PM kickoff and nice weather as well.
