USF Bulls: Good, Bad and Ugly Vs ECU Pirates

The USF Bulls had a win over the ECU Pirates. They went on ECU homecoming and played a complete game. The Bulls have an upcoming bye week. They have extended their record to 4-4 on the year. Now all the Bulls must do is win two more games to become bowl eligible. The Bulls offense looked good and once again they had a good game on defense. This was a big conference win for the Bulls. This was one of the five games in the American Athletic Conference this past Saturday. Out of the five, this was one that was probably maybe a third of the list of a must-watch. It hard for a team to lose on homecoming the Pirates struggled. Now the Bulls next game will be against the Temple Owls on Thursday night November 7th. Now can the Bulls use this win to get more?

The Good: Bulls Offense

It was an all-round great game for the Bulls. The offense has struggled in past games. This game was not the case. The Bulls offense finished the game with 45 points and 525 total yards. They used three different quarterbacks. Jordan McCloud started and left the game with an injury. Before he left, he was nine for 12 for 102 yards and two touchdowns. Jah’Quez Evans was great why he threw one pass and completed it. He ran six times for 99 yards and a touchdown. Kirk Rygol went six for 12 for 74 and one touchdown pass. The Bulls also ran the ball as well. The ran for 347 yards led by Jordan Cronkrite. Cronkrite had 12 carries for 129 yards and two touchdowns. They also only had one turnover which was a fumble. Overall this might have been the best game the Bulls have had offensively.

The Bad: ECU Run Defense

Coming into this game the USF Bulls running game had not been good. The Pirates allowed 347 yards on the ground. The two players that the Pirates had trouble stopping was Cronkrite and Evans. Those two players had 228 yards combined. The Pirates were able to hold opponents under 200 yards rushing before this one. They also allowed three rushing touchdowns. That, of course, was 21 of the 45 points the Bulls scored. If you do the math it was nearly half. The Bulls averaged 8.7 yards a carry. The longest run was by Evans for 53 yards. If the Bulls can run like this in their final four games, it could lead to more wins.

The Ugly: Bulls Penalties

This might have been the only dreadful thing for them for the game. The USF Bulls have had penalty issues under Strong since he became their coach. Well, yesterday they had 13 of them for 124 yards. Now the best part it didn’t affect the outcome of the game. This will have to get better for the Bulls to win more games. This is something that coach Strong has said will improve. Now we know the Bulls are a young team. Hopefully, they will be better not be so penalized. But no matter what this was a great game for the Bulls.
