Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Good, Bad, and Ugly vs Los Angeles Rams

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers now start their extension road trip. Their first trip was to Los Angeles to play the Rams. The Rams have started their season undefeated. They are trying to make another run to the Super Bowl. The Rams where there last year and lost to the New England Patriots. The Buccaneers came into this game as heavy underdogs. Not many experts gave them a chance. Especially how they played last week losing to the New York Giants. They had rookie kicker Matt Gay miss a game-winning field goal. The Rams have had two close games and of close the blowout game against the New Orleans Saints. This game turned into a high scoring game. The final score was 55-40 with the Buccaneers prevailing. To this sportswriter, it was a surprise. This was a big win for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Good – Chris Godwin

Chris Godwin was troubling all day for the Los Angeles Rams defense. When they thought they had him covered he found a way to get open. He finished the game 12 receptions for 172 yards and two touchdowns. Jameis Winston was looking for him all day. This offense put up 55 points against a team that gave up no more than 27 points to any of their previous three opponents. They only gave up 16 points the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. But today Nickell Robey-Coleman had trouble covering Godwin all game. Godwin made catches to extend drives that had he, not the game made have a different outcome. The Buccaneers who have made mistakes on offense didn’t today except for one interception. Godwin should get more looks like he did today because Mike Evans is the main weapon.

The Bad – Rams Defense

The Rams are a good defensive team. Nonetheless, today was not one of those days. The Rams gave up 464 yards and 55 points. However, the Buccaneers haven’t been an offensive juggernaut. Up to this point, they have been a better defensive team. The Rams allowed the Buccaneers to convert 8 first downs on 13 attempts. Again, if they were able to get the Buccaneers off the field the game may have a different outcome. They also struggled to keep the Buccaneers passing game down. Especially like I said above Chris Godwin. Jameis Winston went 23 for 41 for 385 yards and only one interception. The Buccaneers also rushed well as Ronald Jones had 19 carries for 70 yards and one touchdown. The Rams have most likely the best defensive player in the NFL in Aaron Donald. Although, the Buccaneers kept him at bay all game.

The Ugly – Jared Goff

Goff knows what type of player he needs to be. In fact, during the broadcast they mention that now that he has a big contract, he knows the pressure is on him. Therefore, this is one game he would like to forget. Now he was 45 for 68 for 517 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. That is where he had a bad game, the three interceptions. Most would see Jameis Winston have a game like that against the Rams defense. The three turnovers lead to 21 points for the Buccaneers who won by 15 so take those away the Rams would have won. We all know that good quarterback have bad games like this one lets hope for Rams fan he bounced back.
